About the Job

Dr. Brenden Tervo-Clemmens research group in the Department of Psychiatry, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Division, and Masonic Institute for the Developing Brain is seeking a Researcher 4. The Researcher 4 will contribute to studies linking non-invasive brain imaging (fMRI, MRI) to mental health and substance use outcomes in large, publicly available datasets (e.g., Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development Study: ABCD, Human Connectome Project: HCP, UK Biobank).
A particular focus of the group, and area of best fit for potential candidates, seeks to apply meta-analytic, psychometric, and quantitative methods approaches to the assessment of individual differences in neuroimaging to understand their reliability, reproducibility with links to mental health phenotypes, and ultimately work towards improved clinical utility.
Experience with neuroimaging, longitudinal and/or multivariate statistics, or other high-dimensional data analysis and relevant software and programming experience are required.
Opportunities for contribution to additional precision neuroimaging studies of adolescent development, mental health, and substance use disorders will also be available. Candidates will join the multidisciplinary and multidepartment Masonic Institute for the Developing Brain with on-site expertise spanning developmental and clinical neuroscience, bioinformatics, and data analytics and have access to the broader University of Minnesota neuroimaging, high performance computing, and mental health research communities.
Our group is strongly committed to professional development and personalizing the researcher experience.
Job Responsibilities/Duties:
- Design and complete brain imaging analyses pursuant to the goals of the lab and those collaboratively developed with PI Tervo-Clemmens (55%) which includes:
-Analyses using statistical software (R, matlab, python) of test-retest reliability using high dimensional datasets of functional and structural neuroimaging metrics
-Develop and publicly share executable code
-Optimize code to work on high-performance computing platforms
- Prepare and revise manuscripts for publication (35%)
- Participate in lab meetings and broader collaborative projects with other labs (10%)
