Purpose/Summary

Responsible for driving and leading a well-defined materials organization including production planning, capacity planning, all with an emphasis on a lean factory approach. Also responsible for implementing a robust Sl&OP (Sales Inventory & Operations Planning) process that understands customer requirements and sees them through the factory to meet all delivery expectations. Be a change leader, responsible for building consensus for transforming the business using Lean Manufacturing principles. Manage and direct a staff in the preparation of production plans, inventory, and shop order management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • The Production Control & Planning Manager will be responsible for managing the flow of materials, ensuring on-time production, and coordinating with various departments to achieve operational efficiency and meet customer demands.
  • Production Scheduling: Develop and maintain an effective production schedule that aligns with customer requirements, capacity constraints, and inventory levels
  • Regularly review and adjust the schedule as needed to meet changing demands and priorities
  • Demand Forecasting: Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and other relevant departments to accurately forecast customer demands and plan production accordingly
  • Collaborate with customer service ensuring alignment on customer demand
  • Inventory Management: Monitor and control raw material, work-in-process (WIP), and finished goods inventory levels to minimize carrying cost while ensuring uninterrupted production
  • Resource Allocation: Allocate resources, including labor, equipment, and materials, to maximize production efficiency while maintain quality standards
  • Provide input regarding the production impact of order changes, material shortages, backlogs, and other potential schedule interruptions
  • Establish inventory planning standards, procedures, and performance levels
  • Develop and implement production controls to monitor shop order progress and identify potential manufacturing bottlenecks and delays
  • Create and manage KPl's (Key Performance Indicators) that outline the sites position to schedule
  • Identify root causes, corrective actions, provide and implement solutions
  • Manage the sites ERP (Enterprise Resource Program) system for data integrity
  • Serve as change agent, promoting the use of Operational Excellence methodology
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments such as Engineering, Procurement, and Manufacturing to foster a collaborative work environment and ensure smooth communication and coordination.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the production control team, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to foster a high-performing and motivated workforce
  • Facilitate on the job training and cross training through work assignments and use of mentoring to provide learning opportunities
  • Hire and develop team members that can effectively meet business goals and customer demands
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure that all production processes adhere to safety regulations, company policies, and aerospace industry standards.

Position Requirements:

  • 8 years relevant experience
  • 5 years in a leadership role
  • Experience with (ERP) and (MRP) Systems and production scheduling software. Strong knowledge of aerospace manufacturing processes and quality standards. Lean principles
  • Experience in lean manufacturing principles and thorough understanding of Kaizen, 6S, Kanban
  • Strong knowledge of MPS (Master Production Schedule)/MRP (Material Requirement Planning) and/or ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems, Syteline ERP a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skill
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong Leadership and people management skills to motivate and guide the team. Action oriented.
  • APICS (American Production and Inventory Control Society) certification a plus
  • Experience with ISO or OS 9000 systems
