About the Role:

HBSDealer seeks a business reporter/editor to join a passionate team that covers the exciting industry at the crossroads of retail, homebuilding, technology, finance, distribution and marketing (among others). At Hardware and Building Supply Dealer, you’ll cover giant publicly traded national powerhouses as well as local mom-and-pop family businesses, and the companies that service them.

Key Responsibilities: 
The Editor’s top priority is creating high-quality content that resonates and is of value to an audience of retailers, suppliers, and solution providers involved in the convenience store industry. The editor is someone who:

• Can identify, research, source, and write accurate and appropriately positioned articles in a fast-paced environment with daily deadlines.

• Skilled at working with digital tools to publish articles with relevant art and multimedia, create newsletters, and amplify content via social media platforms.

• Adept at multitasking, able to juggle several projects at once, including but not limited to news writing for HBSDealer.com, new products coverage, earnings call reports, longer-form articles for the magazine.

• Develops and nurtures relationships with industry sources from retailers, suppliers, and solution providers served by Hardware & Building Supply Dealer.

• A creative thinker willing to share ideas, risk failure, work hard and smart, and actively participate in editorial staff meetings and discussions of industry trends.

• Looks forward to attending digital and in-person events (as needed), meeting new people, and discovering new product trends and business opportunities.

• Can quickly adjust priorities when a big story breaks or major projects require a team effort.

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or English preferred.

• Relevant experience in B2B publishing is highly desired.

• Excellent writing, proofreading, and communication skills are a must.

• Basic image editing and video editing skills are a plus.

• Experience with, or the ability to quickly learn, Drupal CMS system, Swiftmail e-newsletter creation platform, Google tools, etc.

• An enterprising attitude and service orientation to help those in the markets served by Hardware & Building Supply Dealer be successful.

• Occasional travel to proprietary events and industry conferences.
