West Houston Veterinary Medical Associates is now hiring for a full-time Kennel Technician to join our team!

This position requires a compassionate, reliable individual who can provide excellent care and maintain a clean, safe environment for both animals and staff.
- Feed and provide fresh water to animals according to their specific dietary needs.
- Administer medications as directed by a veterinarian.
- Bathe, groom, and exercise animals regularly.
- Monitor the health of animals, noting any unusual behavior or symptoms and reporting them to the appropriate staff.
- Clean and disinfect kennels, cages, and common areas.
- Maintain a sanitary environment to prevent the spread of disease.
- Ensure that all supplies and equipment are stocked and organized.
- Greet and assist pet owners during drop-off and pick-up times.
- Provide information and updates about the animals' well-being and activities.
- Handle customer inquiries and concerns in a professional manner.
- Maintain accurate records of each animal, including feeding schedules, medical history, and any special instructions.
- Update logs for cleaning schedules and supply inventory.
- Work effectively with other kennel technicians, veterinary staff, and management.
- Assist in training new staff members as needed.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to the overall improvement of kennel operations.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional coursework in animal care or veterinary assistance is a plus.
- Previous experience working with animals in a kennel, veterinary clinic, or shelter is preferred.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to handle animals of various sizes and temperaments safely.
- Basic understanding of animal behavior and healthcare.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Physical stamina to perform tasks that require standing, walking, lifting, and bending.
