Child Lane is Hiring an Infant/Toddler Teacher Near Long Beach, CA

Job Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Site Supervisor, and with support from the Lead Teacher, the Teacher is responsible for the health and safety of children in the child care center, the implementation of a developmentally appropriate and culturally relevant curriculum, and the observation and assessment of children and the classroom environment. In addition, the Teacher is responsible for developing strong relationships with parents and fully complying with Title 22, Title 5 and the Child Care Food Program requirements.

Responsibilities:

Health and Safety

  • Maintain a clean, well-organized, attractive and safe indoor and outdoor environment designed to meet the developmental needs of children.
  • Ensure constant supervision of children in the environment.
  • Abide by State licensing regulations governing health and safety in child care settings.
  • Communicate health and safety issue to the Lead Teacher in a timely manner.

Curriculum and Environment

  • Develop and implement a daily lesson plan based on observations and knowledge of individual children and groups of children. Employ industry best practices.
  • Follow the principles of the Creative Curriculum ensuring activities are appropriate for the developmental levels of the children.
  • Promote exploration, creativity, problem solving and pro-social behavior in every child. Model a relationship-based approach to learning.

Assessments and Observations

  • Complete child assessments using the Desired Results Developmental Profile(DRDP). Prepare detailed supporting documentation and generate reports according to set guidelines and timelines.
  • Conduct parent conferences to share results of the assessment process and set individualized goals for each child.
  • Complete the classroom assessment using the Environment Rating Scale. Set goals for program improvement based on findings.

Relationships and Interactions

  • Treat children with the upmost respect and appreciation, ensuring all children feel supported, encouraged, and nurtured.
  • Make daily contact with parents to inform them of their child’s progress and to model for children positive adult interactions.
  • Maintain a warm and welcoming classroom environment conducive for optimal learning and growing.
  • Actively participate in meetings, workshops, special events and outreach efforts.

Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • AA Degree in Early Care and Education or Child Development required.
  • Teacher Permit required.
  • 3 units in Infant/Toddler care.
  • 1 year paid work experience in an ECE environment.
  • Knowledge of and experience with DRDPs, Creative Curriculum, and Environment Rating Scales.
  • Pediatric CPR/First Aid Training Certificate.
  • Health Clearance; including TB screen and required vaccinations.
  • Strong oral and written communication.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to communicate in English. (Bi-lingual Spanish preferred)
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • High degree of professionalism and accountability.
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • Valid California Driver’s License and transportation.

Physical Requirements:

Must possess mobility to work in a classroom and play yard settings and to use standard office equipment including a computer, stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, strength to lift and carry children weighing up to 40 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.

Travel Requirements:

Minimal travel required.
