Position Overview

This position plans, organizes, and directs the operations and projects at the Green Energy Park. Grade 23
Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review bids and negotiate contracts.
  • Review and accept or reject completed projects.
  • Develop an overall strategic plan for the Green Energy Park to include vision, mission, plan initiatives and branding.
  • Identify trends and opportunities of target markets.
  • Plan and execute advertising initiatives.
  • Analyze market data and prepare reports to measure effectiveness of marketing campaigns.
  • Build and cultivate relationships with media outlets.
  • Engage with the local community and collaboratively work with artists.
  • Manages and directs equipment maintenance, marketing, budget development and invoicing, community outreach, and safety.
  • Interact with engineers, advise artists and community leaders across the globe in order to share experiences and lessons learned on using bio-fuels to develop high levels of process heat.
  • Oversee control systems design and troubleshooting, gas heat value calculations, furnace design, gas collection system redesign and fabrication supervision, gas collection wells and groundwater removal systems; develop equipment maintenance procedures and safety protocols.
  • Supervise staff and student interns.
  • Present programs to various industry groups, community organizations, and schools.
  • Develop and submit project funding requests to various granting organizations.
  • Create partnerships with regional universities to facilitate development of a range of research efforts utilizing the biofuels and equipment available at the Green Energy Park.
  • Participate in discussions and conferences with other renewable energy leaders from around the world.
  • Perform other related job duties as assigned.
Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent; ten (10) years directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of directly related experience, or Master's degree and two (2) years of related experience preferred.
Licenses or Certifications :
Possession of a valid, State of North Carolina driver's license to operate a motor vehicle. Requirement exists at the time of hire and as a condition of continued employment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of County and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
  • Knowledge of supervisory management practices.
  • Knowledge of safe equipment practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of blacksmith forges and metal foundries.
  • Knowledge of maintenance and operations of high-temperature glass furnaces and explosive gas systems.
  • Skill in prioritizing and organizing work.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Skill in originating new techniques and/or developing new information.
  • Skill in performing thermal output calculations.
  • Skill in operating heavy equipment, to include skid-steer loader, dump truck, glass furnace, grit wheels, sanders, band saws, and welders.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and interact with management, employees, members of the general public and other groups involved in the activities of the County as they relate to the department.
