POSITION SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, this position is responsible for performing inspections, checks, tests, and procedure audits of the fabrication and assembly of both products and parts manufactured on site or received from third party vendors, as well as monitor the facility's packages and service parts warranty claims system.Other duties include, inspecting the raw materials pre-assembly, review of QA and maintenance history records, and ensure that all materials, parts, and finished products meet or exceed both industry and Company standards for quality and safety.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: may include any or all of the following.
  • Read blueprints, data, manuals, or other materials to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures, adjustment methods, certification processes, formulas, or measuring instruments required.
  • Inspect test, or measure materials, products, installations, or work for conformance to specifications and sign off of on each assembly milestone during the manufacturing process.
  • Record inspection or test data, such as weights, temperatures, grades, or moisture content, and quantities inspected or graded.
  • Mark items with details such as grade or acceptance-rejection status.
  • Notify supervisors or other personnel of production problems.
  • Communicate corrections and work-to-be completed with the Shop Foremen/Shop Leadman based on inspection results.
  • Maintain all controlled document files and test records.
  • Inspect manufactured and purchased items at receiving to ensure that they match purchase orders, submitting discrepancy reports as necessary.
  • Conduct in-process inspections and audits.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance meeting with Quality Assurance committee.
  • Assist in the writing/updating of inspection procedures, protocol and checklists.
  • Assist production personnel with developing solutions to quality control issues.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (COMPETENCY STATEMENTS):
  • Demonstrated skill in analysis, problem solving, decision-making, planning, organizing, meeting deadlines, multi-tasking, attention to detail, and communication.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret written information, write clearly and informatively; edit work for spelling and grammar; vary writing style to meet needs and present numerical data effectively.
  • Proven knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of metal fabrications or other structures.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; gather and analyze information skillfully; develop alternative solutions.
  • Proven ability to analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Education & Experience:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 3 years of related experience and/or training, or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • A one-year certificate from a college or technical school in Quality Control, preferred.
Computer skills:
  • Adequate level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Applications.
