Summary:

Design buildings with complexity 1 to 3 using MBS (Metal Building Software), verifying all software input, output, and customer's requirements per the design contracts. Help estimators and project managers to resolve questions, design queries, and drawing queries. Assist Professional Engineer with design and detailing related issues.

Essential Functions:

1. MBS job input review such as checking building codes, loads, openings, eave extensions, mezzanine, crane, parapet, mansard, fascia, etc.
2. Complete initial design of buildings prior to review by a Professional Engineer and finalize the design if there are any changes suggested by a Professional Engineer.
3. Optimize building design to save building weight and cost.
4. Help project managers with complex designs and queries related to building codes, and architectural, structural, and mechanical drawings. Suggest different options to input in MBS.
5. Help estimators with complex designs and queries related to building codes, and architectural, structural, and mechanical drawings. Suggest different options to input in MBS.
6. Check design for updated codes of existing buildings and provide solutions to fix at the job site.
7. Check permit drawings of complex buildings occasionally.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Must be able to read architectural, structural and mechanical drawings and use AutoCAD software. Should be familiar with MBS software. Must understand building code files, MBMA standards and AISC standards. Should possess an understanding of programming calculator and plotter.
