Role Summary

As a Media Relations Account Executive with a Financial Focus, you will be responsible for managing media relations activities for clients in the financial sector. Your primary objective will be to secure consistent and impactful media coverage across various platforms while maintaining strong relationships with key media contacts. Additionally, you will provide strategic communications counsel to clients, ensuring alignment with their financial objectives and messaging.

Responsibilities:

Media Relations:

• Identify and pursue media opportunities across digital, broadcast, print, and social media platforms, with a focus on financial publications and outlets.
• Secure media placements and coverage that align with client goals and messaging strategies.
• Develop and nurture relationships with journalists, editors, and influencers in the financial sector.
• Proactively pitch story ideas and angles to media outlets, leveraging industry trends and client expertise.
• Monitor media coverage and industry news to identify opportunities and assess competitive landscape.

Client Service:

• Serve as the primary point of contact for client accounts, ensuring clear communication and alignment with client objectives.
• Provide strategic guidance to clients on media relations and communication strategies, with a focus on financial messaging.
• Collaborate with clients to develop media materials, including press releases, pitches, and briefing documents.
• Coordinate media interviews and appearances for clients, providing preparation and support as needed.

Writing:

• Write and edit press releases, articles, op-eds, and other written materials tailored to financial audiences.
• Craft compelling pitches and story angles that highlight client expertise and achievements in the financial sector.
• Ensure accuracy and consistency in all written communications, adhering to brand guidelines and client messaging.

Research and Analysis:

• Conduct research on industry trends, market developments, and competitor activities to inform media strategy and messaging.
• Monitor and analyze media coverage and metrics to evaluate campaign effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.

Team Collaboration:

• Work closely with internal teams, including account managers, creative teams, and senior leadership, to develop integrated communication strategies that meet client objectives.
• Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices, insights, and media contacts across accounts and industries.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in media relations or public relations, with a focus on financial services or related industries.
• Strong understanding of financial markets, terminology, etc
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages for different audiences.
• Proven track record of securing media coverage and building relationships with journalists and influencers.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and media monitoring tools.
• Knowledge of PR software such as Cision, Meltwater, Sprout, Hootsuite, etc
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
