Overview:

The Editorial Specialist I coordinates the development and production of content to ensure that high-quality assets (articles, case studies, emails, etc.) are produced on time and meet the needs of ISACA members in line with ISACA strategy. This role will spend significant time independently copyediting and proofing content. This role also provides administrative support for the ISACA Journal, including coordinating email content, providing app support, collecting warranties, compiling mailing lists, and other administrative duties as needed.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage the high-quality and timely production of assets as assigned, copy edit and monitor status of each learning deliverable through the development process ensuring timely and accurate delivery. Copyedit assets according to ISACA house style, with proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Proofread content for completeness, style, consistency, and accuracy.
  • Create/acquire monthly Journal email assets, developing/revising content, and ensuring on-time production and delivery.
  • Coordinate production/update of Journal app, managing content delivery, troubleshooting issues, and providing Journal app support.
  • Perform administrative duties for the ISACA Journal, including compilation of mailing lists, collection/documentation of warranties/author agreements, scheduling website updates, participating in editorial calendar development, bi-monthly CPE quiz development, and other duties as assigned.
  • Attend and participate in meetings and conference calls (e.g., project kick-off, status, workflow, scheduling, etc.), as assigned.
  • Coordinate correction process with layout vendor and maintain updated files and versions of record.
  • Provide editorial and production support to other departments as assigned.
Qualifications:

Required skills and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications or related area from an accredited university
  • At least 1 year of copyediting and proofreading experience required
  • Familiarity with The New York Times Manual of Style, Chicago Manual of Style and other style manuals
  • Excellent and proven written and verbal communication skills with strong knowledge of English grammar, spelling and punctuation
  • Must be able to function effectively in a collaborative environment and as an individual contributor
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with varied priorities and deadlines simultaneously
  • Exceptional copyediting and proofreading skills to ensure proper style, usage, consistency, and fact-checking
  • PC competency: Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Word (including track changes), Outlook and Teams; knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel
  • Ability to learn other software such as Salesforce or other programs as needed

Preferred skills and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications or related area degree from an accredited university
  • 3 years of relevant experience
  • Understanding of and experience editing information technology (IT) content
  • Proficient editor and writer
  • Professional Association/volunteer engagement
