INTERNAL MEDICINE CLINIC OF TANGIPAHOA, LLC is Hiring a Medical Office Appointment Scheduler/ Telephone Operator Near Hammond, LA

JOB FUNCTIONS:
Answeringtelephones in a timely manner and utilizing good customer service. To schedulepatient appointments accurately as well as with the requested appropriatephysician. Verbally promotes a positiveimage of the company.
ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS:
1. Propertelephone etiquette. Operates the switchboard efficiently by handling multiplylines, answering calls promptly, transferring calls, and overhead paging andresourceful to the callers.
2. Schedulepatient's appointments electronically and accurately with requested physicianand based on the physician's policy.
3. Confirmsand updates patient demographic information as needed.
4. Accuratelyprocesses updates to patient demographics and accurately verifies and updates patient'sinsurance information.
5. Utilizesthe E.H.R program efficiently for tasks such as: sending electronic messages, sortingelectronic faxes, forwarding to the appropriate physician or nurses fax folder,scheduling and updating insurance.
6. Wheneverpossible, resolves questions directly so that the patient receives promptsatisfaction i.e., good understanding of clinic policies, answer generalquestions and the ability to communicate them face- to- face or to the callerover the phone.
7. Respondscalmly and proactively to urgent calls i.e., bomb threats, life threatening callsand patient complaints.
8. Efficientcommunicator: articulate words, greet the callers in a welcoming tone of voice,and give immediate verbal response to caller's conversation.
9. Personalityand demeanor to deal with the public over the phone and in person. To includeperiodically difficult callers or visitors.
10. Good listener: identifyand anticipate the callers' needs.
11. Assist withtraining new employees in all aspects of appointment scheduling, insurance andupdating patient charts.
12. Participates inthe medical office emergency routine, when required. Summons nurse andambulance of EMS in case of patient or visitor emergencies. Assist other staffmembers as needed.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSBILITIES:
1. PrintingEOB's and stuffing envelopes for insurance claims
2. Assistingwith copying checks and writing out deposits slips.
3. Assistwith clerical duties for the billing department such as return mail and charge entry.
4. Crosstrain in the Front Office for patient check-in.
5. Handlemedical record for outgoing and incoming requests that are non-billable.
6. Crosstrain in all aspects of the front office.
7. Performother duties as requested.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
§ HighSchool graduate or equivalent
§ Handlemultiply phone lines.
§ Goodcomputer skills
§ Basicoffice skills such as typing, filing, and printing.
§ Abilityto act independently and work in a fast-paced environment.
§ Personalityand demeanor to deal with the public and assist ill, older, or distraughtpatient.
§ Multi-task
§ Excellentcommunication skills
§ Graduateof certified medical office training course or medical office working knowledgepreferred.
§ Goodsense of organizational skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
§ Sittingbehind desk for long period of time
§ Abilityto read small print.
§ Liftingless than 30 lbs.
