The Institute for Defense Analyses' Information Technology department is seeking an individual that is technically savvy and customer service oriented to join our team as a mid-level System Administrator. The System Administrator II is an on-site or hybrid position and serves as a technical expert in the area of system administration for complex operating systems at multiple classification levels. This position applies functional knowledge to solve an assortment of problems of moderately complex scope. Due to the nature of this position, and the requirement for extended coverage, this position may be required to work hours outside of a regular schedule. #ITatIDA

Responsibilities:

Linux Systems Administration 

• Strong administrative and technical knowledge of Red Hat Operating Systems.
• Responsible for the effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of Red Hat Linux-based systems hardware, software and related infrastructure, both physical and virtual.
• Operational knowledge of Red Hat Open Shift and Container platform
• Perform application and OS, patching, information assurance and compliancy tasks.
• Prepare for new product related releases and assists with new project initiatives and upgrades.
• Provide primary support for Linux-based requests and incidents.
• Certificate Management (Requesting/Generating and Installing)
• Rotational after‐hours coverage.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or related field coupled with three years minimum experience in Information Technology, which includes two years in systems administration OR high school diploma with five years minimum experience in Information Technology, which includes two years in systems administratio

• Possess technical and operational proficiency managing and supporting servers, systems, and software, preferably the Red Hat Operating System.

• Experience with the following technologies is required: Red Hat OSs 7,8,9, VMware technologies (ESXi, vSphere, vRealize), Red Hat Open Shift and Containerization.

• Must be organized, self-motivated and able to collaborate with diverse technology teams.

• Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form and with all levels of employees; possess good interpersonal skills.

• Ability to obtain and maintain DOD 8570 IAT II certification within six (6) months of hire.

• Successful completion of a criminal background check is required.
