Position SummaryThe NPPD Engineer is an important part of the Sales and Engineering process. You will be responsible for leading the development of new products and processes from conception through to implementation.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of new products and processes, from initial concept to commercialization.
- Brainstorm ideas and determine the best masking, tooling, fixturing and electroplating processes to produce customer interfacing new prototype samples.
- Design and document new processes per the customer specified requirements.
- Assist the sales team in quotes for new parts and estimates for NPPD proposals by providing suggested load sizes and lead time required to finish the deliverables.
- Ensure the NPPD activities match the sales proposal and notify sales if a customer requests additional work.
- Document and report completed NPPD projects to sales and the customer. Document project progress, findings, and outcomes in detailed reports and presentations.
- Maintains a strong understanding of materials performance properties and manufacturing processes
- Collaborate with business development, quality and manufacturing teams to define project objectives, requirements, and specifications.
- Design experiments, develop prototypes, and conduct feasibility studies to evaluate new concepts and technologies.
- Document detailed process development activities, special work instructions, process specifications and inspection procedures per ISO 13485 quality requirements, or customer directed requirements.
- Develop and optimize manufacturing processes to meet quality, cost, and efficiency targets.
- Perform risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting expertise during product development and production phases.
- Stay current with medical device industry developments, best practices, and emerging technologies related to new product and process development.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by actively seeking opportunities to enhance processes, methodologies, and tools.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
- Proven experience in new product and process development within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Strong technical knowledge in product design, materials selection, manufacturing processes, and quality assurance.
- Experience in CAD design
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and drive results
- Experience with lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies
