Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Minimum of BS degree in civil engineering or chemical engineering
  • Minimum of 10 years of design engineering with a focus on Water Treatment
  • Minimum of 3 years of Project Management in water treatment design.
  • PE registration in Arizona and/or California.

As a project manager, you will manage and deliver projects, prepare design documents and specifications related to water treatment, and complete design and delivery of projects. Experience with similar municipal projects is required along with an Arizona and/or California PE registration.

Job Requirements

Expertise in the following

  • Familiarity and expertise with advanced treatment processes and equipment to purify
  • Project management
  • Knowledge of advanced treatment equipment such as membranes, DAF, ozone, dewatering devices, chemical feed systems, etc.
  • Ability to integrate design of overall facility with pumping system and storage tanks
  • Knowledge of material properties and corrosion
  • Detailed knowledge of civil, mechanical, piping and equipment design
  • Working knowledge of Electrical design, and electrical engineering design.
  • Has the ability to travel, as required for projects, client and business development needs.
  • Organized and self-motivated, strong interpersonal communication skills required.
  • Possess excellent time-management skills; thorough understanding of task assignment and schedule, budgeting and efficient use of time and available resources.
  • Use of Microsoft Project scheduling software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including detailed report preparation.
  • Ability to effectively discuss project issues with clients, contractors, equipment suppliers/vendors.
  • Ability to make presentations to clients
  • In depth client management and business development expertise

Preferred skills

  • HAZWOPER certification
  • Project Management Professional Certification
  • OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety and Health
  • CAD design ability
  • Ability to manage and work independently on design projects.
  • Excellent computer, math, and English skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software and PC programs

Responsibilities

  • Manage, specify, and design municipal water treatment, piping, storage, and pumping systems, including facility and equipment layout, and coordination with other engineering disciplines.
  • Manage the development of design reports for process design and hydraulic criteria for conventional surface water treatment, advanced treatment systems (RO/UF/GAC/UV, etc.), and treatment residual handling systems.
  • Oversee a team of project engineers and coordinate with other disciplines.
  • Management of the construction phase of projects as needed.
  • Responsible for budget, scheduling, reviewing field activities, invoices, approving labor time, costs, and procurement.
  • Be responsive to clients' needs and keep other department managers informed of site conditions and activities.
  • Plan and procure all necessary equipment for the project in accordance with regulatory standards.
  • Lead vendor management and procurement, i.e., labor/material cost estimates.
  • Responsible for operational permits and programs to ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations and control compliance costs.
  • Assist with business development and budgeting.
  • Practice safe work practices by following all Company safety rules and OSHA regulations, including attendance at all required safety training programs.
  • Develop new business and manage client relationships.

NCS Engineers is a dynamic water/wastewater environmental engineering firm, and we are adding a position of Engineering Project Manager: Water Treatment Facilities Design to our corporate family in our Phoenix Arizona location. This position offers challenging technical and professional opportunities working on the leading edge, high-tech water and wastewater treatment design projects providing innovative water applications for industrial clients. The focus of this position is on municipal water process design, development of PFD, P&ID, site layout, mechanical design, detailed design control logic, etc.
