Child Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.Job DescriptionPosition PurposeEarly Head Start (EHS) Teacher is responsible for the physical, mental, emotional, social and intellectual development of children; maintains a good relationship with parents of each child, and has the ability to develop consistent, stable and supportive relationships with very young children. (This is a 12-month position) Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesSets learning goals and plans learning experiences by integrating knowledge of each child’s temperament, interests, gender, culture, language, learning approaches, understanding, misconceptions, and abilities and by working collaboratively with families and a range of specialists (e.g., medical, dental, speech, nutrition, and mental health).Plans, prepares and implements actual classroom curriculum; Maintains accurate, objective, complete, timely, and well-organized child and family records; observes and records assessments of family needs; Conducts developmental screenings of infants’ and toddlers’ motor, language, social, cognitive, perceptual and emotional skills; measures, records and updates children’s heights and weights.General Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesAbility to adapt curriculum to meet needs of all children including at-risk, special needs, gifted and for a culturally diverse population.Ability to apply early childhood development theories in daily classroom activities and facilitate appropriate outcomes for individual children.Ability to be flexible with work assignments and work schedules.Knowledge of Head Start Standards and federal, state and local regulations as they apply to grant funded program mandates.QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:CDA with a focus on infant and toddler development required.Three (3) months of experience working with children infant to 5 years preferred.Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education with a focus on infant and toddler development, or degree in a related field with coursework equivalent to a major in ECE/infant and toddler development, preferred.Must be certified in Pediatric CPR and First Aid within 30 days of employment.Bilingual English/Spanish or demonstrated willingness to work toward mastery.Additional Information Must pass all criminal history background checks. Must have valid driver’s license, current insurance and reliable transportation. Must submit to post-offer physical and TB test.
