Inova Health System is Hiring a Behavioral Health Therapist IV Near Alexandria, VA

The Behavioral Health Therapist 4 demonstrates advanced clinical expertise in the provision of a range of therapeutic services, psychoeducational programming and behavioral interventions to assist the client in achieving progress towards the goals and objectives of individualized treatment plans. Demonstrates the ability to assess and diagnose mental health and/or substance use disorders through a bio/psycho/social department specific and evidenced based assessment identifying patient and family goals/needs. Integrates assessments using information related to cultural, clinical, ethnic, age and other factors into the plan of care while providing a range of therapeutic interventions, psycho-educational programming and behavioral interventions (when indicated) to assist the patient/family in achieving the goals and objectives of the individualized service plan. Mentors Behavioral Health Therapist 1 residents in training, Therapists II and III while serving as a clinical leader within the team. May engage in research and contributes to the specialty field of program/department/unit through the development/participation of research protocols, abstract writing and publications when identified and appropriate.

Job Responsibilities including but not limited to:

  • Demonstrates advanced clinical expertise in the provision of a range of therapeutic services, psychoeducational programming and behavioral interventions to assist the client in achieving progress towards the goals and objectives of individualized treatment plans.
  • Demonstrates the ability to assess and diagnose mental health and/or substance use disorders through a bio/psycho/social department specific and evidenced based assessment identifying patient and family goals/needs
  • Demonstrates clinical autonomy in the provision of care, recommendations and referrals while striving to increase professional knowledge, develop expertise and work toward certifications
  • Serves as a clinical leader by providing clinical supervision to team members seeking licensure as well as supervision/mentoring of graduate students during clinical internships. Mentors Behavioral Health Therapist 1 residents in training, Therapists II and III.
  • May engage in research and contributes to the specialty field of program/department/unit through the development/participation of research protocols, abstract writing and publications when identified and appropriate.

Requirements for consideration:

  • A Minimum of 5 years experience in mental health/substance use disordered, psychoeducation programming including brief, targeted, evidence-based interventions (crisis intervention, trauma, integrative therapies) with demonstrated success as a clinical supervisor.
  • A Master's Degree, Ph.D., PsyD, EdD in mental health, social work, Counseling, Substance Use Disorders or behavioral health-related field is required.
  • Must possess a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), PhD or PsychD Licensed Clinical Psychologist/ (LCP) or Licensed Substance Abuse Professional (LSATP) Licensure that is active and in good standing upon start
  • Certification Basic Life Support must be obtained from the American Heart Association within 3 months, and Certification from the Crisis Prevention Institute must be obtained within 6 months of hire
