Compensation: $12.00 - $15.00 / hour

Description

Here is What Your day May Consist of:

• Provides excellent customer service to pet owners
• Performs all duties in accordance with hospital medical policies and procedures
• Prepares and maintains the exam rooms and treatment areas 
• Performs assessments and records observations on patients
• Assists the doctor in medical, surgical, and dental procedures
• Gives injections and administers oral medications in accordance with hospital policy
• Performs emergency procedures such as control of bleeding, resuscitation with oxygen, opening airways, and external cardiac massage
• Assists in restraining pets. Performs clinical laboratory procedures
• Admits and discharges patients on the doctor's orders
• Counsels’ clients on various aspects of animal care; explain dosage/purpose of medications; reinforces the proper care and procedures that should be followed at home
• Understands usage and dosage for all prescription drugs and can readily explain them to the clients
• Properly cleans all surgical materials after they are used; keeps the exam room, surgery room, and treatment areas properly stocked and prepared to receive patients as needed
• Assists other staff members as required
• Understands and carries out oral and written directions
• Maintains positive, cooperative, and team-oriented relationships with other employees
• Performs other duties as assigned

Here is What You Will Bring to the Position:

• Completion of a two-year or four-year American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) accredited program from a community college, college, or university
• License certification varies by state
• Externship experience
