The Lactation Network is Hiring a DevOps Engineer Near Chicago, IL

Description
Are you passionate about revolutionizing healthcare? Are you a collaborative builder who thrives on thoughtful, high-impact work? Are you driven to change the standard of care in women's health?
The Lactation Network is hiring a DevOps Engineer. We're looking for someone who will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between development and operations, focusing on streamlining our software delivery pipeline and ensuring the reliability, scalability, observability, and security of our applications and infrastructure. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to automate and improve our development and deployment processes while managing and maintaining our cloud-based infrastructure.
We are a small, tight-knit, purpose-driven organization with aggressive growth goals in 2024 and beyond. We don't have all the answers, and we don't expect you to, either. We do expect you to be curious, hardworking, and strive to be your best self.
Breakdown of the role
  • Build and manage CI/CD pipelines (50%). You'll develop and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment of applications and services. This position will work to continuously improve deployment processes to enhance speed, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Azure cloud management (25%). This role will design, deploy, and maintain Azure cloud infrastructure to support healthcare applications. You'll optimize resource utilization, scalability, and cost-effectiveness of Azure services. In addition, you'll implement security best practices and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA).
  • Maintain observability (25%). You'll establish comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to ensure the observability of infrastructure and applications. This role will proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and will implement dashboard reporting to provide real-time insights into system health and performance.
What you'll do
The DevOps Engineer will report to the Software Architect and work with our development teams, IT operations, and business stakeholders to ensure our products and services deploy and operate smoothly. This will be done in the context of an agile team.
  • Design, implement, and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines to ensure efficient software delivery.
  • Manage and configure cloud infrastructure, monitoring, and scaling resources as needed.
  • Implement and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) practices using tools like Bicep or OpenTofu
  • Monitor and troubleshoot production systems, ensuring high availability, performance, and security.
  • Implement security best practices, including access control, encryption, and vulnerability scanning.
  • Work closely with development and operations teams to understand requirements and address technical challenges.
  • Document infrastructure configurations, deployment processes, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to team members as needed.
  • Continuously improve and refine DevOps practices through automation and documentation.
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to provide strategic recommendations.
What we expect from you
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a DevOps Engineer or similar role, preferably in a healthcare or highly regulated industry.
  • Strong proficiency in Azure cloud services, including computing, storage, networking, and security.
  • Expertise in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools like Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or GitLab CI/CD.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or ARM templates.
  • Proficiency in one or more scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python)
  • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
  • Proficiency with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools (e.g., OpenTofu, Bicep, ARM)
  • Solid understanding of network and system administration
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Experience with logging/monitoring platforms (e.g., DataDog, Elastic Search, Splunk, Application Insights)
What we'd also love to see
  • Experience in high-growth organizations
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Experience with Disaster Recovery planning and execution
What you can expect from us
  • Unlimited PTO. We work hard. We're passionate about what we're building together. We also have lives outside work.
  • Healthcare benefits. Medical plus voluntary vision, dental. (We are a healthcare company, after all.)
  • 401(k) with 4% employer match. We're planning for the future-and we want to help you do the same.
  • Remote-first culture. We are a distributed, remote-first team. We also like spending time together in our Chicago office and have a flexible in-office culture for those who wish to return to work in-person.
  • Mindfulness and meditation app. You'll have complimentary access to the leading app for meditations, sleep stories, and other wellness resources.
  • Recharge. We have one designated "no meeting day" each week so you can take a break from videoconferencing and have some quiet time to focus.
  • Professional development. We invest in our team by offering every employee access to a professional development budget.
  • Competitive compensation. We're looking for top talent.
  • A growth environment. The sky's the limit.
