Job Details Job Location Illinois College - Jacksonville, IL Position Type Full Time Education Level Bachelor's Degree Travel Percentage Up to 25% Illinois College is searching for a globally-minded professional who enjoys working with young people as an Admission Counselor. As part of a dynamic team, this Admission Counselor is responsible for developing and implementing programs and activities designed to enroll new international, transfer, and online students at Illinois College (IC). These duties will include a full range of recruitment and admission efforts, including travel, group presentations, individual meetings, application review, financial aid counseling, and related duties as assigned. It will also include working in collaboration with colleagues across campus to ensure a seamless transition to the Illinois College campus and programs. Provide excellent customer service to prospective students, families, and other stakeholders as they seek to learn about the value of an Illinois College education
Act as Territory Manager for assigned student populations to realize an assigned recruitment goal
Meet weekly goals for counselor-initiated completed contacts
Respond to in-person, phone, and electronic admissions inquiries in a timely manner and at times that are appropriate for different time zones (domestic and international)
Work a flexible schedule to include some evenings and weekends
Review applications for admission and scholarships
Assist with on- and off-campus recruiting events and conduct information sessions
Engage in overnight travel (possibly abroad) representing IC
Provide enlightened hospitality to create lasting connections with prospective students, families and other stakeholders
Work with others to execute initiatives such as recruitment events, program management, communication flow, and other activities that support enrollment goals
Work with IC colleagues to ensure timely student visa processing and system compliance
Collaborate with the Director of Specialized Admission Initiatives on efforts related to international, transfer, and online students' transition to college life
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required
Educational or work background at a small college preferred
Previous admission or college counseling experience preferred
Dynamic public speaker with excellent writing and interpersonal skills
Intercultural competence and the ability to work with diverse populations
Fluency in English, as well as another language preferred
Experience with international travel, preferred
Must be willing to travel overnight, potentially abroad, as well as work some evenings and weekends
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a goal-oriented strategic thinker
Must have a valid driver's license for at least 2 years prior to start date, and a good driving record
Must possess a valid passport and be able to travel outside of the US
Must be a US citizen or lawful permanent resident of the US, to be eligible to act as a Designated School Official (DSO) to issue international student visa documentation
Must be able to lift and carry 30 pounds, reach above shoulders, bend at the waist, stand for extended periods of time and move swiftly between campus buildings
