Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP is Hiring a DC Business Immigration Paralegal II Near Washington, DC

Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP, an international law firm, is actively recruiting an experienced immigration paralegal to support the firm's Immigration practice in its Washington, DC office. This position assists lawyers and practice advisors with preparation of complex legal documents, mid-level legal research activities and other tasks related to the Immigration practice area. Provides leadership in supporting firm, office and team initiatives and in support of management directives.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
  1. Prepare and finalize petitions and applications with minimal supervision, to include:
    NIV (H-1B, L-1, E-2/3, TN, O-1, dependent applications);
    b.IV (EB1/2/3/NIW and family-based); and
    c.PERM applications.
  2. Actively participate in case intake and strategy, including research on appropriate SOC classifications and use of private wage surveys.
  3. Maintain timely communications with client contacts (employees, managers, and HR representatives) via email, phone, and video calls as necessary.
  4. Monitor relevant expiration reports and timely initiate renewal processes.
  5. Maintain both internal and external case communications and documentation through use of firm file maintenance programs.
  6. Perform special projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Education:High school diploma or equivalent required.College degree preferred.Paralegal certificate, National Association of Legal Assistants certification or specialty certificate provided by State helpful.
  2. Experience:Five years' paralegal experience preferred, with a minimum of three years' experience in business immigration preparing business immigration filings (PERM, O-1 and EB-1 experience preferred).Experience managing client accounts/relationships desirable.
  3. Other Qualifications: Intermediate knowledge and application of Federal, State and Local Rules. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic technological and research skills necessary to pull requested documents from online resources and familiarity with legal technology and computer databases required. Ability to train other paralegals and work efficiently and accurately under pressure, and present a positive, professional image with colleagues, professional staff, and vendors. Ability to work overtime or travel, as needed, on short notice essential. Ability to work well under pressure, patience, diplomacy, high stress tolerance, excellent interpersonal communication skills, ability to prioritize workload and adapt to changing conditions. Visual acuity needed for transcription, extensive reading and input (typing) of information into computer. Ability to receive and convey detailed information through oral communication. Essential competency processes include language ability, reasoning and memory. To perform this job successfully, the incumbent must possess the abilities or aptitudes to proficiently perform each of the responsibilities and accountabilities described above, with or without reasonable accommodation.
