A Nursing Assistant is responsible for assisting Registered Nurses in treating patients throughout the hospital under the direct supervision of licensed staff. The CNA will perform routine patient care duties, provides a safe and therapeutic environment and assists in the admission, provision of patient care, discharge and transfer of patients.
Effectively keeps clinical/administrative areas safe, clean and neat to maintain a structured environment, while communicating with patients about their needs.
Performs tasks such as responding to call lights, feeding, bathing, preparing patients for transfers along with utilizing the language line when applicable.
Performs and documents direct patient care tasks such as assistance with personal care and other activities of daily living.
Provides a safe, clean environment to maintain a structured and therapeutic environment.
Participates in the development and ongoing review of the patient's treatment plan and progress towards goals.
Provides one-on-one assistance with patients on an as needed basis.
Reports any changes observed in condition or behavior of a patient to professional personnel (and if applicable document).
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with established time constraints and in difficult situations.
Department Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Phlebotomy after appropriate verification of skill competency is established.
Other Responsibilities:
Adheres to downtime procedures.
Adheres to established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.
Performs both essential and non-essential job functions in a safe manner as identified by Humboldt Park Health.
Demonstrates an understanding of and models the mission and core values of Humboldt Park Health.
Enhances professional growth and development by accessing educational programs, job related literature, in-service meetings, and workshops/seminars.
