The Painter supports Human Technologies' mission of Creating Employment for People with Disabilities by performing the day-to-day operations in the department, while working and communicating with the Facilities Manager to ensure that all work is completed in a timely and efficient manner. Good painting has both practical and aesthetic benefits. The goal is to deliver high-quality painting work.
Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Perform the daily work activity of painting the interior and exterior of structures, buildings, and other surfaces.
- Cover trim, floors, furniture, (or remove) outlet covers, cabinetry, carpets, lighting fixtures, landscaping, and other surfaces with masking tape, drop cloths and other protective coverings to keep them free of paint.
- Prepare walls and other surfaces to be painted by scraping/removing old paint, washing them, filling holes and cracks with appropriate material (ie. plaster, putty), patching and taping walls, and sanding them until smooth when necessary.
- Apply primer and other sealers to surfaces to be painted.
- Paint, stain, and apply other finishes to surfaces according to instructions with various tools including brushes, rollers, and sprayers.
- Clean all brushes, rollers, sprayers, pans, etc. at the completion of each job or at the end of each day.
- Keep the worksite neat and orderly.
- Set up and tear down ladders and scaffolding needed to perform job duties.
- Monitor and inventory supplies and communicate with the Facilities Manager when supplies need to be ordered.
- Work closely with the Facilities Manager to coordinate all projects.
- Perform duties in a manner that is conducive to maximizing both productivity and efficiency.
- Maintain record of hours worked.
- Comply with safety policies and procedures for the safety of self and others.
- Complete all mandatory training programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager.
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
- Must have a High School diploma or equivalent.
- Must have previous painting experience.
- Must be able to lift in excess of 40 pounds properly.
- Must have manual dexterity with excellent balance to be able to work at heights with use of a ladder, lift, or scaffolding.
- Must have a valid Driver's License, reliable transportation and have and maintain a driving record in accordance with Human Technologies' Liability/Automotive Insurance carrier.
- Must be conscientious with great attention to detail.
- Must be self-motivated.
