Overview of Position:

The HR function at HUB has embarked on an exciting transformation journey. We are passionate about improving the employee experience across the organization, and we want to strengthen and promote our culture of One HR. We anticipate many exciting changes and opportunities ahead! To help us communicate all we have to offer, and also to help us deliver on our priorities, (meaning roll up your sleeves and dive in!), we are looking to expand our team with the addition of a Communications Specialist.

This newly created role will be part of the Corporate HR team, based in Chicago.

Reporting to the HR Chief of Staff, our Communications Specialist will produce communication material for all of HR. They will collaborate with various internal stakeholders and partners to ensure HR is supported in all communication planning and activities. This position is multi-dimensional. It will focus on writing content as well as creating internal digital platforms that will serve as communication tools for the HR Community. Success factors for the role include having the ability to tell a story succinctly and with meaning and impact. Similarly, leveraging creativity and having a strong background of building out internal platforms is another important success factor. This role will help us build even stronger connections within our HR Community and more broadly, across the organization. The Communication Specialist must demonstrate the ability to work smart, complete assignments quickly yet efficiently, and have an uncompromising eye for attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Support weekly and other regular internal HR communication initiatives.

  • Build and maintain internal platforms focusing on a wide range of talent topics across the enterprise.

  • Assess, create, and manage internal HR communications channels that facilitate improving how/when/what we communicate (structure, systems, channels).

  • Proactively raise awareness of our talent priorities and programs companywide by partnering with our Corporate Marketing and Corporate Internal Communications teams to ensure alignment of messaging and with corporate brand standards.

  • Collaborate closely and regularly with the Corporate VP of HR to write and cascade HR for HR information, resources, and updates.

  • Support HR Chief of Staff in the creation and facilitation of effective communication both within the HR department and more broadly across the organization.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with other Communications professionals across the company to raise awareness of our talent priorities and programs and align on communications messaging and tactics.

  • Develop and analyse metrics to understand the effectiveness (including but not limited to reach, usage, clarity) of internal HR communication mechanisms. Continuously improve by leveraging these metrics to improve readership, engagement, and impact.

  • Foster meaningful collaboration with our HR Community and build strong relationships and networks.

  • Work with the Corporate Design team to ensure HUB's brand is consistently carried through in all internal and external communications.

  • Ensure that a global lens is applied to materials shared through multiple communications channels to determine when it is appropriate and/or required to include translations of materials.

  • Implement and maintain governance of all internal HR communications platforms.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Post-secondary education in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or similar field.

  • 3-5 years' experience of internal communications experience.

  • Excellent organization and planning/project management skills, including the ability to design and execute on communication campaigns/initiatives.

  • Ability to distill, translate, and implement big ideas/vision into actionable plans that can become reality.

  • Must be able to manage several projects at a time and meet evolving deadlines.

  • Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills.

  • Proven experience in creating and delivering simple, effective, and compelling messages. Ensure all content and messages are inclusive and honour our commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion ad Community.

  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to build and maintain relationships with a variety of individuals at multiple levels and in multiple roles within the organization.

  • Embraces challenges and is highly adaptable, with the ability to change directions when/if needed.

  • Technology acumen - proficiency in Microsoft Office, desktop publishing and video creations is highly desirable.

  • Experience with SharePoint and Seismic is strongly preferred.

  • Experience working in a global organization with multiple locations across countries is preferred.
