SHIFT DETAILS:
Full time, 36 or 40 hours per week
Part time, less than 36 hours per week
Per Diem (if available), minimum of 2 shifts/month
All positions (including per diem) must have the ability to complete 6 consecutive business days of initial orientation as well as required unit orientation

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides transportation service to and from diagnostic areas, i.e., Radiology Department, Cardiology Department, Rehabilitation Department, Cardiac Cath Lab, Clinical Vascular Lab, G.I. Lab and to and from Critical Care Units and Medical/Surgical Units.
Collects, cleans, maintains, distributes and provides necessary documentation to manage the inventory of equipment that is the responsibility of the department.
Assists Radiology personnel in lifting patients on and off Radiology tables as duties permit.
Replaces empty oxygen cylinders on a daily basis and on an as needed basis.
Transports deceased patients to the morgue.
Provides backup support for the Security Department during security alert situations, as duties permit.
Communicates daily and directly with patients, visitors, physicians, nursing staff, support groups and the Volunteer Escort Service throughout the hospital.
Responds to codes and alerts as duties permit.
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Individual must be able to meet established specific physical requirements of the job, sitting for up to four (4) hours per day, four (4) hours at a time. Standing for up to eight (8) hours per day, 4 hours at a time and walking for up to eight (8) hours per day, 4 hours at a time. Frequent handling and firm gripping in moving equipment, rarely fingering and twisting/turning. Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing and walking of objects weighing up to 200 pounds with assistance. Frequent squatting and kneeling, occasional stooping/bending, crouching and reaching above shoulder level. Hearing as it relates to normal conversation. Seeing as it relates to general vision and color vision and depth perception.
EDUCATION:
High School diploma preferred.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Some hospital experience preferred. Training will consist of a two to four week training program, several department-specific in-services, and attendance of the St. Luke’s Hospital orientation program and completion of the annual Essentials Newsletter. Must maintain CPR certification.
