Hometown America has a unique opportunity available for a Team Member Relations Specialist located in Chicago, IL or Dallas, TX.

General Job Duties, Technical Knowledge, and Skills

  • Facilitating discussions in order to resolve manager and team member dissatisfaction or conflicts;
  • Maintaining knowledge and understanding of federal, state, and local regulations, laws, and issues related to employment and human resources in order to proactively manage risk;
  • Researching and explaining employment related laws and matters to managers and team members;
  • Coaching and training others to evaluate and document team member performance in order to maintain or improve results;
  • Advising regional leadership on policies and practices related to discipline, terminations and negotiated separations and associated legal compliance issues.
  • Providing appropriate documentation in response to unemployment, government agency or other similar third-party claims and legal matters;
  • Work collaboratively with HR team to make recommendations for changes and improvements to the policy handbook;
  • Assist with special projects, participate in meetings, and perform other duties and responsibilities as directed or assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Functional knowledge of applicable employment laws with ability to research, comprehend, interpret, and apply them appropriately.
  • Demonstrate sound business ethics and integrity.
  • Able to deal with conflict, confront negative behavior, encourage the expression of differing viewpoints, and identify and discuss issues underlining conflict.
  • Excellent organizational, customer service and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to clarify information to gain understanding and buy-in.
  • Solid organization and time management skills with ability to act with urgency and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite.
  • Must have current, valid drivers’ license from the state where the office is located before driving a Company-owned vehicle or driving personal vehicle on Company business.

Education

Undergraduate degree in human resources or related field, or combination of equivalent education, experience, and knowledge, including experience in human resources, employee relations, people management, and/or conflict resolution.
