FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN – ELECTRICAL

IEM (Industrial Electric Mfg.) is the largest independent full-line manufacturer of custom electrical distribution and power quality equipment in North America. With our expanding business in a smaller company atmosphere , we have the opportunity to create, design, develop and manufacture state-of-the-art products to meet our customers’ needs. This position offers an exciting opportunity within an innovative, growing company , with a backlog of bookings that go beyond 3 years.

IEM WILL PROVIDE TRAINING on our specific equipment and commissioning process

You will be responsible for hands-on field service work at customer sites, with a focus on installation of components and subassemblies, and basic commissioning of IEM equipment primarily in data center or industrial applications. This includes, but may not be limited to:

  • Attending project meetings as required, including coordination with contractors and clients.
  • Installation and modification of electrical or mechanical components and subassemblies which may include: Panelboard interiors; Circuit breakers; Bus bar; Switchgear section doors and subpanels; Addition of control components; Power Cabling and control wiring;
  • Perform basic testing of modified assemblies (visual, ductor, etc.).
  • Perform basic commissioning of switchboards, controls panels, and power products.
  • Troubleshooting of electrical circuits and networking equipment.
  • Coordinating with Technical Project Manager or manufacturing facilities to find solutions to product or commissioning issues identified by IEM or reported by the customer in the field, and identifying additional field resources needed for installation and replacement parts
  • Performing preventive maintenance, field installations and modifications to existing equipment
  • Technical product support

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A technical degree or equivalent and 1-2 yrs. of experience working in a manufacturing environment or field service role with ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT.
  • Must be a team player and have strong communication skills
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision is a must
  • Travel is required.

WOULD BE A PLUS:

  • Experience with switchgear and electrical controls system.
  • Military experience
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams
