What We Offer

This is an on-call position, which means it is a part-time, hourly role. This position will work no more than 39 hours per week.

The starting pay for this position is $18.75 / hour and is eligible to enroll in the City and County of Denver’s 457b retirement plan.

This position is not eligible for other additional benefits. On call positions may have routine or variable work schedules.

Location

This position will be based out of the Rosedale Maintenance Facility at 2349 S. Logan Street in Denver but will be working hands-on in the field approximately 80% of the time.

The work schedule will be Monday Friday, 6 : 00 a.m.-2 : 30 p.m.

What You’ll Do

Denver Parks and Recreation is seeking a Seasonal Water Conservation Utility Worker to support Denver Parks’ Water Conservation Program and play an important role in maintaining Denver’s extensive system of urban parks that are essential to the community’s well-being.

This individual will learn and practice a variety of irrigation maintenance and repair skills, and lake maintenance skills, providing them with a strong foundation to make upward moves within the Parks and Recreation department.

Skills to be developed and utilized in this position include, but are not limited to, the following :

Work outdoors in parks using and maintaining various hand-powered tools, motorized equipment, small boats, and utility vehicles in a safe and efficient manner

Landscape maintenance duties such as :

Perform Lake cleanups including removal of trash and debris, and aquatic vegetation treatments

Irrigation (minor maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and use of central control systems)

General parks repair, projects, and maintenance

Infrastructure maintenance and repair such as irrigation systems, concrete, water quality equipment, and grade work / erosion control

Interact with and learn alongside more seasoned park maintenance generalists and / or specialists such as Irrigation Technicians, Horticultural Workers, Park Horticulturists, and other experts in unique green industry fields and skilled trades work

Snow removal operations such as plowing, shoveling, and de-icing

Various related duties as needed such as trash collection, bathroom maintenance and cleaning, vandalism repair / graffiti removal
