HDR is a leader in innovative planning and design, client service and thought leadership on projects globally and throughout the region.The primary responsibilities of the Interior Design Principal will be to grow and develop the interior design practice while also focusing on developing and winning business with existing and new relationships and opportunities in the local and the regional market.Primary ResponsibilitiesWorking alongside other practice leaders, assist in growing a well-balanced interior design practice.Engage local market sector leadership, and draw upon the expertise of multiple disciplines, leveraging the firm’s research, knowledge, and technical resources to deliver innovative and creative design solutions.Bring creative leadership with a strong sense of design and commensurate portfolio.Contribute to the design and practice vision for the local and regional interiors practice, in alignment with firm-wide design goals and the vision set by the Global Interior Design Director and the Interior Design Directors.In collaboration with the office and design leadership, provide inspiration and design direction for projects.Participate in local acquisition, recognition, development and mentoring of talent.Work with local marketing teams to actively pursue new business opportunities, go/no-go decisions, fee proposals, RFP responses and targeted project pursuits.Develop and maintain strong client relationships.Embody high standards of design excellence and innovation, as well as an entrepreneurial approach to interior design as an integrated component of the firm’s total design strategy.Be a positive team player, focused on collaboration and the betterment of our interior design program.Leverage technology to present and document ideas, demonstrating the ability to product presentation materials is important.Participate in the development of interview strategies, messaging, presentations, and interviews.Participate as a thought leader in professional organizations, activities, and services that further the firm vision, value, and relationships.Increase the awareness and understanding within the community of the firm’s practice on a local, regional, and national basis.Perform other duties as needed*LI-SA1QualificationsRequired QualificationsBachelors Degree in Architecture 15 years related experienceA minimum 7 years project management experienceRegistered ArchitectMust have experience on large-scale projectsMust be able to lead a team on projects and make client presentationsExperience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project)Extensive knowledge and experience within the local and regional marketStrong team leadership, mentoring, motivational/organizational and people skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsMust be willing to travelAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culturePreferred QualificationsExperience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEEDPMP certificationWhy HDRAt HDR, we know work isn’t only about who you work for it’s also about what you do and how you do it.
