Position Title Dissector (Part-Time) Position Number 896493 School/Division School of Medicine Department Full-Time or Part-Time Part-Time Description

Reporting to the Anatomist and Co-Course Director, the Dissector will assist with the dissection and extraction of the vagus nerve and its branches from human cadavers for research purposes. This is a part-time, hourly position funded by an NIH grant.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

* Performs cadaveric dissection of full-length human vagus nerves and vagal branches in adult donor bodies.

* Assists in the development of dissection strategies.

* Assists in the planning and procurement of cadaveric specimens.

* Takes photographic and video documentation of dissection process.

* Takes anatomical measurements of pertinent branch points relative to extra-vagal anatomical landmarks.

* Produces data documentation.

* Participates in lab group meetings.

* Assists in preparation and cleanup of dissection sessions.

* Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

* MS, MD/DO, or PhD with minimum three years' dissection and/or surgical experience required.

* Technical expertise in donor body dissection.

* Strong oral and written communication skills needed.

* Must demonstrate superior organizational skills, attention to detail and adaptive work style.

* Ability to approach challenges with creativity, innovation, and a positive attitude.

* Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Salary/Salary Range $50.00 per hour

Hofstra University provides the above salary* as a good faith estimate of the starting pay range which considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and education.
