What We Need:
We are looking for a Director, Finance - Strategic Priorities to join our HNI Workplace Furnishings team.
The Director, Finance - Strategic Priorities will provide strategic direction and analysis of assigned functions playing a critical role in the achievement of long-range planning goals in adherence and compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory mandates. The Director, Finance will work closely with executive and functional leaders throughout workplace furnishings.
What You Will Do:
  • Collaborate with leadership and functional leaders to achieve optimal outcomes related to strategic priorities of the organization.
  • Work closely with internal leaders to ensure accurate financial forecasting and budgeting processes providing knowledgeable report-outs to leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Build and elevate a Finance function to leverage talent and resources in pursuit of achieving organizational long-term goals.
  • Utilize organizational strategy to lead planning, processes, and execution to drive positive financial outcomes and improvements across the organization.
  • Set functional direction, establish priorities, and make decisions in pursuit of flawless execution and best total cost.
  • Create and leverage continuous relationships within the enterprise with key stakeholders to drive successful relationships and broad alignment.
  • Establish and lead project/initiatives related to continuous improvement activities across the finance/accounting function.
  • Analyze data, identify opportunities for improved growth/profitability developing business case to support conclusions, as needed, building models of excellence related to financial analysis.
  • Ensure accurate completion and distribution of necessary weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc financial reports.
What You Have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • Master's degree and/or professional certifications preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in finance or accounting required, preferably in a lean manufacturing industry.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a management role preferred.

  • Proven ability to analyze complex business data and to effectively communicate technical analysis to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated successful negotiation skills with the ability to influence/persuade members to build consensus.
  • Possess keen business acumen with the ability to function as a strategist with key members of the executive management team.
  • Demonstrated excellence in written/verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking ability, strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, to build and develop strong teams, and to interact with all organizational levels.
  • Understands and communicates with a diverse set of leaders and associates at various levels within workplace furnishings and HNI Corporation
  • Understands the needs of internal and external customers, the business, and the competitive landscape. Ability to translate a vision into strategic plan for research and design to meet the needs of the company.
  • Advanced analytical/problem solving skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure with changing priorities and meet deadlines with quality output.
  • Oracle ERP system(s) and applications experience preferred.
