We are seeking a highly motivated Research Scientist to join our scientific team and help expand our R&D pipeline.

Xylyx Bio specializes in developing tissue-specific extracellular matrix (ECM) biomaterials for preclinical applications. The proprietary platform incorporates minimally-processed, normal and diseased ECMs that enable scientists to gain insights into the complex interactions between cells and their microenvironment, and improve the translation of cancer-drug candidates within clinically-relevant assays.

Research Scientist
Accountability and Objectives
The Research Scientist at Xylyx Bio plans and performs research and development activities, ensuring key research objectives are met while serving as a scientific expert to Xylyx team members and customers.
Core Responsibilities
· Plan and conduct laboratory research experiments.
· Proven ability to work independently, analyze results and methods troubleshoot and interpret data.
· Maintain mammalian cell culture using sterile techniques.
· Establish and execute tumor organoids models for high-throughput applications.
· Assess and develop novel assays and biomarkers using in vitro tumor models. · High degree of proficiency in standard biochemical, cellular, and molecular biology techniques (qPCR, ELISA, cell-based assays, immunostaining) to investigate aspects of cancer.
· Prepare, deliver, and present high-quality data reports.
· Based on results, independently suggests and tests modifications to protocols.
· Maintain well-organized records and laboratory notebook.
· Contribute to preparation of data summaries, technical reports, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and scientific presentations.
· Work with marketing team to prepare and deliver scientific content for marketing materials.
· Promote a positive and productive workplace environment.
· Support scientific professional development within Xylyx Bio.
Skills
· Significant knowledge of 3D cell culture techniques, human disease biology, and assay development
· Extensive experience in cancer research with cell and molecular biology, immunostaining, cell-based assays, and microscopy techniques
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and publication record
· Experience and strength in presenting complex information to diverse audiences
· Passion for personal and team development, and strong drive for excellence
· Ability to work adaptively and adjust quickly to changing goals in a dynamic and evolving organization
· Highly motivated, hard-working, positive attitude
· Proven record in the timely completion of complex research projects
· Coachable and committed to bringing innovative ideas to the real world

Qualifications
Masters or Doctoral degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical engineering, or related field.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Job type: Full-time, in person
Compensation: $85,000 – $100,000/year, depending on experience, employee will qualify for Start-up NY Personal Income Tax exemption until 2028.
