HISPANIC HEALTH COUNCIL is Hiring an Afterschool Coordinator Near Hartford, CT

The afterschool Coordinator serves as part of the Parent and Family Learning Center. Under supervision, the after-school Coordinator is responsible for supervising and coordinating the program and staff. The afterschool coordinator is directly responsible for planning and organizing all daily activities of the program. Develops and plans activities that incorporate program goals into the daily routine. Assists with staff training, ensuring a safe and educational environment. Supports the establishment and enforcement of program policies and procedures. Performs related work as required.

The hours of work are 35 per week. Required to travel to site locations.

This is a grant funded position. Position is contingent on grant funding.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Organize various parts of an activity to enable collaboration and efficient communication.
  • Knowledge of technical platforms (Microsoft Suite: Excel, Teams, etc.)
  • Provide participants with the appropriate leadership during program hours.
  • Assist with training and supervision of youth development specialist staff.
  • Provide a warm and caring atmosphere for participants.
  • Maintain an open communication with parent/guardian and school personnel.
  • Maintain records of attendance and sign-in/out sheets and turn them into the center’s Program Manager.
  • Attend all staff meetings.
  • Report any problems that arise with participants, other employees, or the school to the program manager.
  • Keep the assigned afterschool spaces neat and organized at all times.
  • Assist in acquiring purchase orders and obtaining program supplies.
  • Follow and enforce district policies and procedures.
  • Assist with Quarterly and end of year evaluations.
  • Assist with program purchases.
  • Direct and guide the participants of the program in all areas.
  • Prepare activities that are developmentally appropriate for the age of the children.

Environmental Considerations:

May be exposed to all weather conditions. May be required to work in various temperatures within the facility and outside. Will be required to travel to multiple work locations.

Qualifications

Associate degree and two (2) years of experience providing education, social, training, and employment, direct care services, or closely related field to a diverse population.

Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in child studies, Education, or a related field
  • Experience working with at-risk youth and families.
  • Bilingual -- Spanish
