Job Objective:  

The Associate Manager supports the development and execution of new product launches and brand strategies for Eva NYC Hair Care that are set forth by the Senior Director. This position requires creativity, attention to detail, organization, excellent communication and effective coordination with cross-functional partners – Marketing, Creative, Packaging, Procurement, Quality, and external suppliers.

Location: Brooklyn, NY (can work remotely, must be willing and able to come into office when needed)

Salary: $70,000 - $85,000 benefits (depending on experience) 

Key Responsibilities:  

• Manages the product development of new launches from conception to launch. Maintains the formula compliance of the current portfolio and reformulates when needed.
• Works with the PD Senior Director and Project Manager to set timelines and with cross-functional teams to ensure project milestones and goals are met in a timely manner. Provide regular project status updates and elevates / communicates risks as they arise.
• Partners with PD Senior Director, Marketing, and Packaging to define conceptions for new product innovations – competitive benchmarks, product performance and appearance/texture, ingredient selection, and packaging design.
• Writes and submits product development briefs to R&D and manufacturers with clear details on the concept, formula, packaging, cost target, quantities, and timing.
• Leads and recaps weekly project calls with R&D labs. Discussions include formula submissions, performance feedback, composition, country compliance, specs and quality standards, stability, industrialization feasibility, cost, and timing.
• Reviews stability samples with R&D and compatibility samples with Packaging, along with respective data, at each temperature and timepoint and records observations. Alerts PD Senior Director of any abnormalities and game plans root cause, next steps, etc. together with R&D and Packaging. Manages storage of these samples as lab standards.
• Fully owns performance evaluation and testing of formula submissions, inclusive of writing test questionnaires, recruiting testers, sample shipments, and compiling / summarizing test results. Reviews results with PD Senior Director before presenting to R&D and Marketing.
• Partners with Regulatory to ensure individual ingredients and full formula are compliant to brand and country of sale requirements.
• Supports PD Senior Director, Marketing, and Regulatory with claims development and testing.
• Writes “Product Knowledge” sheets for NPDs that Marketing, Consumer Engagement, and Sales can reference when building go-to-market strategies, campaigns, and retailer meetings.
• Some travel to suppliers and manufacturers, as needed, to support industrial trials and approve first productions.
• Stays abreast of hair and beauty industry news, patents and scientific literature, new product launches, new technologies / raw materials, etc. and attends local trade shows to inspire and create innovative, differentiated, and high performing products.
• Researches consumer / market / ingredient data and trends, as well as competitive landscape in mass, masstige, professional, and prestige hair care markets.
• Comes up with new ideas for innovation brainstorming sessions with Marketing and assists PD Senior Director with blue-sky initiatives.

Requirements: 

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3-5 years of PD experience in beauty (mandatory), hair care preferred.
• Exceptional project management, organizational, and communication skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, attention to detail, and creative skills.
• Exhibit strong collaborative and leadership skills with internal and external stakeholders.
• A strong sense of urgency, ability to prioritize, and time management skills are essential, as the position requires you to manage multiple projects with firm and sometimes competing deadlines.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be located in New York City area. (No relocation.) In-office 1-2x per week.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Asana, Mintel, Spate, and Survey Monkey.
