Summary

Cares for residents, under direction of nursing and medical staff in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations, by performing the following duties.

Position is in Killdeer, ND

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Duties are determined by the facility and may include, but are not limited to the following:

  1. Answers call lights to determine resident’s needs.
  2. Assists residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADL’s) according to the resident’s care plan.
    1. Bathes dresses and undresses residents.
    2. Serves and collects food trays and assists residents to dine.
    3. Transferring residents using mechanical lifts as needed, transporting residents, or assisting residents to ambulate.
    4. Turns and repositions residents in bed, alone or with assistance, to prevent skin breakdown.
  3. Assisting the charge nurse with procedures and treatments.
  4. Changes bed linens, runs errands, directs visitors and answers the telephone.
  5. Takes resident vital signs.
  6. Monitors residents general and skin condition reporting significant changes to the charge nurse.
  7. Documents care provided on the appropriate forms. Records resident weights, food and fluid intake and output, mood and behaviors.
  8. When working in Carus Court, staff will follow the guidelines that are in place for the memory care unit.

Qualifications

Education and /or Experience

Completed a state approved certified nurse assistant course.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations

Current CNA certification.

Language Skills

Ability to read, and interpret procedures manuals. Ability to effectively present information to individuals and respond to questions from supervisors and regulatory agencies.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in using whole numbers.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.

Other Qualifications

Must have the desire to work with convalescent, geriatric or light psychiatric residents. Will assure that the resident's rights to fair and equitable treatment, self determination, individuality, privacy, property, and civil rights, including the right to wage complaints, are well established and maintained at all times. Must maintain confidentiality of resident and facility information. The employee shall use only the minimum necessary information to perform his or her responsibilities. Trust worthiness, loyalty, fairness, honesty and reliability must be one of his/her best assets.

Exposure Risk

This position carries a risk for blood borne pathogen (BBP) exposure. Must practice appropriate engineering and work practice controls, including standard precautions and hand hygiene. Must use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Hepatitis B vaccine is recommended.
