Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate would be an individual who possesses an Associate degree and four years of experience in the operation and maintenance of water or wastewater utility systems with two of those years as a supervisor or have a high school diploma/GED and training and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-related competencies of the job description. This individual would have prior supervisory experience as well as experience in the best practices and procedures that support the duties, responsibilities, and skill sets required of an Industrial Electrician for both levels of Intermediate & Journeyman. The individual must understand that participation in a 24/7 afterhours standby rotation program and disaster recovery is required after successful completion of probation. This position supervises a group of highly skilled and trained technicians in the everyday repair, maintenance, installation, inspection, troubleshooting, and testing of electrical equipment used in water, wastewater, reclaim and distribution systems across all of Hillsborough County. Candidate should have experience with and ability to teach and train subordinate staff to work on, but not limited to the following: voltages ranging from 12V DC to 13.8kV and demonstrate the best practices and procedures that support the duties, responsibilities and skill sets required of an Industrial Electrician. Teach, troubleshoot, and have experience with switchgears, MCC’s, PLC’s, VFD’s, DSB’s, Lighting/Power Panels, UPS’s, Natural Gas Turbine Generators and Motors ranging from ¼ - 1750HP.

In the event of an emergency or disaster, an employee may be required to respond promptly to duties and responsibilities as assigned by the employee’s department, the County’s Office of Emergency Management, or County Administration. Such assignments may be for before, during or after the emergency/disaster.

Employees in this classification that acquire the competencies and minimum qualifications for the next tier will be able to apply for promotional opportunities through a competitive selection process. Employees will not automatically be upgraded to the next tier. Reclassifying a position is based on business need and financial impact and is not based solely on the job competencies or qualifications of the incumbent. |
