Higher Ground Education is bringing on a Regional Facilities and Maintenance Technician to help support and manage our schools' facilities needs for our South Texas (Austin, Houston, and San Antonio) schools!

We are looking for customer-oriented individuals who are both clear-communicators and have strong technical skills. If you're excited about working in an entrepreneurial environment and providing top-tier service to school leaders, this role is for you!

Responsibilities

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine building maintenance tasks. We are looking for a Jack-of-all-trades who can do small repairs and troubleshoot issues that can be resolved with a "Do It Yourself" fix for the schools' buildings and facilities, while also maintaining contracts and relationships with current vendors. This is a full-time, salary-based position, reporting to the Regional Operations Lead. Must be able to work flexible hours.

The Facilities Maintenance Technician will:

    • Build-out service calendars for all schools
    • Maintain up-to-date inspection reports for all schools
    • Maintain facilities requirements in accordance with Texas state licensing
    • Maintain relationships with current vendors
    • Manage up-to-date vendor contracts
    • Bid-out and secure new contracts, if necessary.
    • Paint, remodel, refurbish areas as needed
    • Repair, maintain/monitor buildings, equipment, and amenities
    • Manage and approve facilities-related invoices and utilize data to improve facilities cost/sq. ft
    • Perform small repairs and support with diagnosing issues
    • Perform other work-related duties as assigned
    • On-call maintenance for all facilities in specific parts of the region (Austin).

Skills

  • High school education or equivalent
  • 5-8 years in facilities maintenance
  • Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, or carpentry
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, and able to multi-task
  • Excellent communication and follow-through skills
