Works independently, following established policies and procedures, and performs investigative research in areas related to biomedical research.
Assists in the development of new methodologies and prepares material for incorporation into publications or for use in laboratory procedures.
Develops and tests hypotheses.
Conducts experiments using various methodologies, including the collection and analysis of data.
May act as project leader and resource person for personnel or laboratory related matters.
Is responsible for initiating and writing scientific manuscripts for publication.
May assist or be responsible for preparing and submitting grant applications to external peer review agencies.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :
A professional level of knowledge comparable to that which is acquired through obtaining a Ph.D., M.D., D.O., D.D.S., or equivalent degree.
A minimum of one year of research experience.
Research experience acquired while obtaining a PhD or advanced degree meets this requirement.
Training/experience appropriate to meet the job-specific preferences as required by the hiring department.
Requires a proven working knowledge of various research methodologies.
Familiarity with computer programming and statistics may be helpful.
Requires manual dexterity to operate complex equipment.
