Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Patient Financial Services (PFS) to lead our financial services team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare financial management, a deep understanding of revenue cycle operations, and a passion for improving patient financial experiences. This role is critical in ensuring efficient billing and collection processes, maximizing revenue, and maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations.
NATURE OF WORK & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Director of Hospital Fiscal Services will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Patient Financial Services department, including billing, collections, patient financial counseling, and revenue cycle management; Develop and implement strategies to improve financial performance and patient satisfaction; Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to patient financial services; Manage and mentor a team of financial services professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development; Negotiate contract terms with insurance providers to secure favorable reimbursement rates and terms; Monitor contract performance and compliance, addressing discrepancies and resolving issues promptly; Build and maintain strong relationships with insurance providers, vendors, and regulatory agencies; Collaborate with other departments, including clinical and administrative teams, to optimize revenue cycle processes and enhance patient care; Utilize MEDITECH and other relevant software systems to manage and optimize revenue cycle operations; Develop and maintain policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective operations; Continuously review and improve PFS processes to reduce denials, improve collections, and enhance patient satisfaction and other duties as assigned.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field. Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in healthcare financial management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. Comprehensive knowledge of healthcare billing and collections, revenue cycle management, and patient financial counseling. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on patient-centered service. Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams. Proficiency in healthcare financial software and electronic health records (EHR) systems, MEDITECH experience preferredRequirements
Non-Competitive Minimum Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration, business management, or accounting and six years’ experience in accounting, budgeting, finance and/or revenue cycle management, at least three of the years must have been in a health care setting. Three years of this overall experience must have been at a supervisory level, or one year must have been at a managerial level.
