This grant position, funded by the Office of Refugee Resettlement, involves supporting the family reunification team in the process of reuniting newly arrived children with their families. Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assists in completing the intake process for new arrivals.
  • Works on Family Reunification Application (FRA) and ongoing reunification reports.
  • Maintains participant files, including filing, scanning, and data entry on electronic databases.
  • Provide telephonic support to parents, sponsors, and children.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as creating documents and cross-checking information.
  • Supports safe family reunification planning following the case plan.
  • Ensures timely notifications of incidents, emergencies, and events.
  • Attends meetings and assists with consulate contacts, document verification, and scheduling.
  • Assists with discharge preparations and physical discharge of participants.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum three (3) years experience in behavioral/social science, case management, or child welfare services.
  • Bilingual (Spanish, Punjabi, Hindi, etc.) language competency required.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (K/S/A):

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information diplomatically.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant software.
  • Comfort working with people of varying socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • High degree of collaboration, emotional intelligence, and self-motivation.

Work Arrangement:

  • This is an in-person role, not eligible for remote work. Staff may work at different locations based on daily needs, with the option to report to a "home" location before traveling.

Work Environment:

  • Moderate noise level.
  • 24/7, 365-day operations, requiring flexibility in scheduling and work location.
  • Program sites across Chicago and suburbs may necessitate reporting to various locations.

Physical Demands:

  • Regular talking and hearing.
  • Routine activities involve sitting, standing, and walking.
  • Manual tasks include stooping, kneeling, crawling, and using hands for various functions.
  • Visual abilities such as close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception are required.
  • Occasional lifting or moving up to 25 pounds.
  • Must have unrestricted ability to provide physical restraint when needed.
