Shifts: - 4x9-hour shift per pay period (36 hours/week)
- Rotating weekends.
- Start time could vary (6:30, 7:00, 7:30, and 8:00 are our current start times).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - The working knowledge, competency, and organizational skills necessary to perform all diagnostic testing in all departments of the clinical laboratory; chemistry, hematology, coagulation, immunology, Immunohematology, and basic STAT microbiology
- Microbiology in-depth skills and competency will be required for those technologists working the
routine microbiology department on the day shift when cultures are worked up; evening and night shift
will be required to show competency with gram stains, culture set up, and point-of-care micro kits
- Must have working phlebotomy knowledge of specimen collection requirements, complications of
phlebotomy and have competent phlebotomy skills for all age groups
- Responsible for proficiency surveys as assigned with an 80% or better average score
- Working knowledge and skills necessary to perform and monitor quality control on all testing; trouble
shoot all quality control problems in a timely to ensure accuracy of all patient results, with proper tracking
and documentation of all corrective action
- Working knowledge and skills necessary to perform preventative maintenance on all equipment as
scheduled and/or needed due to instrument problems, with proper tracking and documentation of all
corrective action
- Must maintain yearly competence in all areas through personal study, training videos, in-service, case
studies, Internet opportunities, and one one-on-one training if requested; must meet the minimum requirement
of documented training hours and continuing education requirements
- Any technologist attending manufacturer training is considered a “key operator” of that instrument and
is responsible for competency training the other technologists, as well as performing method
validation, and ongoing monitoring of that instrument
- Monitor and document all reagent tracking; date of receipt, opened, date in service, and date out of
service, lot numbers, and expiration dates
- Consistently utilizes two methods of patient identification in blood collection processing or issuing
blood products; uses read-back or oral and telephone orders to ensure complete accuracy
- The ability to use sound judgment and to work independently

- Must have a working knowledge and ability to abide by all compliance standards

- Maintains strict confidentiality regarding knowledge of all patient information, staff, and hospital
business
- Must have the ability to identify problems and recommend solutions; utilize performance
improvement process to keep physicians’ trust, customer service, and repeat business a priority
- Responsible for establishing and maintaining healthy interpersonal relationships with all staff
members

JOB SPECIFICATIONS: - Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Must have completed a training program in an accredited school of Medical Technology
- Must be registered as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist with the ASCP or equivalent
- Current BLS (AHA) certification is recommended.
- At least one (1) year of continuous job-related experience is preferred
- Ability to read, write legibly, and comprehend the written and spoken word in English; basic
computer literacy and the ability to effectively learn new software programs are required.
