Job Title: Protection and Control Engineer Location: Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Pittsburgh Salary Range: $90,000 - $150,000 (depending on experience) Employment Type: Full-time Job DescriptionOverview: We are seeking a talented Protection and Control Engineer to join our team in multiple locations including Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Pittsburgh. As a Protection and Control Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining protection and control systems for electrical power systems. While a Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred, having an Engineer-In-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification is essential. Key Responsibilities
Protection System Design: Design and develop protection schemes for electrical substations, transmission lines, and distribution systems to ensure system reliability and safety.
Control System Implementation: Implement control logic and automation schemes using industry-standard protocols such as IEC 61850, DNP3, and Modbus.
Equipment Specification: Specify protective relays, circuit breakers, switches, and other equipment required for protection and control applications.
Testing and Commissioning: Conduct testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of protection and control systems to verify functionality and performance.
Documentation: Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation for protection and control systems.
Compliance and Standards: Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulatory requirements in protection and control system design and operation.
Collaboration: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including electrical engineers, project managers, and field technicians to deliver projects on time and within budget.
Training and Support: Provide training and technical support to internal teams and clients on protection and control system operation and maintenance.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
5 years of experience in protection and control engineering for electrical power systems.
Proficiency in protective relay programming and coordination using software such as SEL, GE Multilin, or Siemens SIPROTEC.
Experience with SCADA systems, substation automation, and communication protocols (e.g., IEC 61850, DNP3).
Strong understanding of power system protection principles, relay coordination, and fault analysis.
Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred but not mandatory; Engineer-In-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification is essential.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and collaborate effectively with teams.
