Job DescriptionOverview: We are seeking a talented Protection and Control Engineer to join our team in multiple locations including Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Pittsburgh. As a Protection and Control Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining protection and control systems for electrical power systems. While a Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred, having an Engineer-In-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Protection System Design: Design and develop protection schemes for electrical substations, transmission lines, and distribution systems to ensure system reliability and safety.
- Control System Implementation: Implement control logic and automation schemes using industry-standard protocols such as IEC 61850, DNP3, and Modbus.
- Equipment Specification: Specify protective relays, circuit breakers, switches, and other equipment required for protection and control applications.
- Testing and Commissioning: Conduct testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of protection and control systems to verify functionality and performance.
- Documentation: Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation for protection and control systems.
- Compliance and Standards: Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulatory requirements in protection and control system design and operation.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including electrical engineers, project managers, and field technicians to deliver projects on time and within budget.
- Training and Support: Provide training and technical support to internal teams and clients on protection and control system operation and maintenance.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 5 years of experience in protection and control engineering for electrical power systems.
- Proficiency in protective relay programming and coordination using software such as SEL, GE Multilin, or Siemens SIPROTEC.
- Experience with SCADA systems, substation automation, and communication protocols (e.g., IEC 61850, DNP3).
- Strong understanding of power system protection principles, relay coordination, and fault analysis.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred but not mandatory; Engineer-In-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification is essential.

- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and collaborate effectively with teams.
