If you are an RN looking to expand on your Diagnostic skills. Look no further! Come join our nursing family and become an integral part of our Diagnostic Nursing Team! The diagnostic nurses are primarily responsible for the comfort and safety of all patients undergoing invasive procedures in the department. This position allows for clincial autonomy and diversity; daily team cohesion and collaboration with our Radiologists and technology staff to optimize patient outcomes. We offer an extensive onboarding experience with a dedicated preceptor that includes continuing education, radiation safety, SIM lab, and a dedicated professional development specialist. Our nurses collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement a patient centered plan of care.

This position involves treating a diverse patient population with a variety of medical conditions and post procedure care needs.
Tasks and responsibilities include: vital sign monitoring, telemetry monitoring and interpretation, administering prescribed medications/moderate sedation, wound care, assessment and documentation in accordance with established policy of moderate sedation, appropriate use of PPE and maintaining sterile environments, following universal precautions and time out.
Educational / Minimum RequirementsBSN or Associates Degree
Current CT license
BLS Basic Life Support
ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support
State/Federal Mandated Licensure Or Certification Requirements
  • Current State of Connecticut licensure as a Registered Nurse. Certification from a professional nursing body preferred.
Bristol Health Mandated Educational RequirementsGeneral orientation at time of hire. Fire/Safety/Infection Control annually. Health Care Provider CPR from American Heart Association. Successfully complete all training programs as determined by Education & HRD department. Other unit based competencies/skills as required.
Special RequirementsLead apron required for fluoroscopy procedures, compliance with radiation safety and wearing dosimeter badge.
Critical Care Experience PreferredIV proficiency
Physical RequirementsPhysical agility with repetitive occurrence including but not limited to; walking, running, bending, stooping, climbing stairs and ladders, kneeling, crouching, crawling, balancing, reaching, standing, sitting, and twisting. Lifting greater than 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the work day. Looking at a computer monitor. Vision acuity correctable to normal. Hearing acuity correctable to normal. Acute sense of smell for normal perception. Ability to verbalize so that the average person can comprehend.
Work EnvironmentRegular exposure to patient elements, occasional stress.
