Harper College is Hiring a Technical Assistant - Theatre Near Palatine, IL

Job Description
Assists with technical setup of theatre lighting and sound equipment as well as any additional staging equipment to provide smooth running, strike and clean up needed for events in the Performing Arts Center, J Theatre and the Drama Lab. Operates computerized lighting control systems in the Performing Arts Center, Drama Lab and J Theatre. Assists with the lighting hang, aim and focus for productions in the Performing Arts Center,
J Theatre and Drama Lab. Responsible for the loading and unloading of trucks for equipment that is rented or purchased for productions in the Performing Arts Center, J Theatre and Drama Lab. Performs routine maintenance of equipment in the Performing Arts Center, J Theatre and Drama Lab under the supervision of the Technical Director. Maintains current knowledge of the functioning and operation of computerized lighting and sound control systems. Operates theatrical equipment in a safe and efficient manner as dictated by safety and training guidelines for the department.
Responsibilities
Utilizes standard office and computer equipment, computerized theatre lighting control, lighting instruments and supplies, computerized sound control, AV equipment, power tools and hand tools, pneumatic equipment, personnel lifts, motorized chain hoists, truss rigging, winch motors, scenic rigging, theatrical lift, and counterweight fly system in order to perform the duties of the job
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Some College preferred. 1 year of previous technical theater experience. Excellent organization and time management skills required. Must be 18 years of age or older.
