We have a vacancy for a Power Market Senior Analyst to join our team in Austin, Texas.

You will be responsible for:

• Jointly developing with the trading team successful trading and optimization strategies, including congestion management and forward hedging, while managing the clients’ risk preferences
• Leading the development of market analytics and trading tools
• Building and maintaining DCOPF and power flow models with an initial focus on the ERCOT market
• Supporting the business development team with the definition and pricing of structured products
• Providing advisory services to clients, working on revenue simulations and other analytical work
• Reviewing performance of live assets and revenue backtests (including root case analysis of outliers) and presenting them to existing and potential clients
• Supporting the Data Science team with commercial data analytics, modeling and feature selection 
• Developing business cases for new data sources, services, and technologies to improve business performance

Requirements:

• Degree with a major quantitative component, e.g. computer science, engineering, economics, mathematics
• At least 2 years of experience in energy trading and analytics, consulting or energy market modeling to demonstrate comfort and fluency in the US wholesale power markets
• Experience with Monte-Carlo models and simulations 
• Proven ability to understand complex problems and design innovative solutions.
• Experience with relational and/or non-relational databases for big data (eg, SQL).
• Autonomous with the ability to take initiative, influence and drive results.
• A desire for continuous learning and development.
• Strong communication skills both verbal and written.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Competence with Python for data manipulation and big data (eg. Pandas, numpy, and similar).
• A very good understanding of the ERCOT market dynamics and rules specific to ERCOT
• Experience with credit and risk management, risk modeling or post-trade analytics.
