ENGINEERING SUPERVISOR- UPSTREAM OIL & GAS

Job Description and Qualifications
J H Operating Company, LLC, an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management firm primarily supporting the upstream and midstream oil and gas industry, is seeking an Engineering Supervisor for its office in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

The position will require supervising a team of multi-discipline engineers while helping them to understand, implement, improve and drive maximum effectiveness and efficiency within J H systems and processes. The Engineering Supervisor will act as the primary point of contact for J H’s engineers, project managers and the drafting and design team as they work to create safe, successful projects that are completed on time, on budget, and that meet our standards of quality control. The role will support the team on capital industrial infrastructure projects such as multi-well production facilities, large central gathering stations, oil terminals, pipelines, and saltwater disposals and is a key skillset in expanding JH’s services to the midstream and upstream sectors.

The Engineering Supervisor will report to Karla Orth, Vice President of Engineering

The ideal candidate will possess 5 years of supervisory experience in upstream oil and gas facilities engineering and/or project management experience and 15 years’ experience in oil and gas or petrochemical industries.

The primary responsibilities of this role are as follows:

  • One overarching goal: to make the team a more efficient and effective group by creating capacity for J H Senior Management to focus on their more technical priorities, while ensuring that all projects are completed on time, within budget and meet our high standards of quality through the management and supervision of our people and processes.
    • Manage the creation, maintenance, and monitoring of multiple project plans, schedules, budgets, and expenditures.
    • Work directly with the engineering and design, and construction management teams.

o Manage those responsible for gathering project requirements, developing designs to meet the client’s needs, managing procurement, creating project deliverables, and selecting and managing third-party service providers to complete successful projects.

o Ensure the quality, accuracy, and completeness of departmental work as related to engineering, design, and drafting.

o Working knowledge of API, ASME, ANSI and recommended practices

· Assist and Mentor the Project Management team in:

    • Assisting and overseeing Cost Estimation to create AFEs for internal and external stakeholders.
    • Managing project timelines and work estimation for internal and external stakeholders.
    • Project logistics.
    • Vendor management during project execution.
    • Engaging and interfacing with clients to build and maintain positive relationships.
    • Project planning and status meetings with team members, management, and client representatives.
    • Communicating ideas for continuous improvement.
  • Assist and Mentor the Engineering team in:
    • Cost tracking and forecasting
    • Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and RFP bid evaluation.
    • Procurement and Change Orders.
    • Pre-Construction scheduling and document control
    • Providing technical oversight and training when necessary
  • Assure that projects adhere to company processes and procedures and that all documentation is appropriately maintained.

Non-Technical Responsibilities

  • Treat the client with respect and professionalism, at all times.
  • Understand and manage your personal performance to promote JH teamwork and culture, while enhancing customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all JH and client information.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • B.S. in an Engineering discipline (Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical or Petroleum from a 4-year program at an accredited university)

· 10 years of upstream oil and gas engineering/project management experience.

· 15 years of industry experience.

· Demonstrated success in technical expertise, supervision, leadership, and business development.

· Familiarity with a wide variety of disciplines including electrical, mechanical, and process engineering, piping design, project controls, procurement, fabrication, and construction.

· Ability to understand and interpret P&IDs

  • Competency with the Microsoft Office Suite (specifically, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams)
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to respond positively to the needs of clients, management, and colleagues.
  • Capacity to be proactive and take ownership of tasks.
  • Exemplary references.
  • Ability to pass an in-depth drug screening.
  • Qualify for a motor vehicle license.
