About the role:

The Environmental Health and Safety Specialist is responsible for providing technical support for all facets of Environmental Health and Safety. The EHS Specialist will work within the EHS Team and across the organization to establish, audit, and update environmental, health and safety programs to ensure continued compliance with all regulations and to establish best practices.

The EHS Specialist will also remain current with pertinent EHS regulations through continuing education (some domestic travel required) and will play a key role in communicating and coaching Group14 employees to meet EHS standards and best practices.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Provide technical and regulatory guidance to ensure compliance with requirements, safe work practices, and continuous improvement of EHS programs.
  • Provide daily boots on the ground support to facility operations.
  • Provide leadership on EHS issues and opportunities.
  • Participate in and facilitate project reviews, incident investigations, process hazard analyses, and change management processes.
  • Support the interface with regulatory agencies and third parties, as needed, on compliance and enforcement issues while ensuring that all internal and external reporting requirements are met.
  • Work with other EHS experts in the organization on development of best practices and initiatives to ensure continuous EHS improvement.
  • Provide guidance as an EHS representative on environmental, health and safety topics, provide training content, and where appropriate, deliver training or coaching to employees.
  • Work with the manufacturing team to develop solutions to problems and improve the integration of EHS programs and process safety.

What we’re looking for:

  • REQUIRED: 3-5 years’ experience in refining/petrochemical/chemical industries, terminal operations, or oil and gas
  • Must have well-rounded knowledge of environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to successfully solve problems and influence others.

Other qualities we’d love for you to have:

  • Experience in chemical plant/refinery operations.
  • Experience working in an ISO-certified environment.
  • Experience creating and maintaining technical documents, SOPs Strong computer and project management skills.
  • EHS certificates from continuing education
  • Process Safety Management experience/knowledge.
  • Root Cause Analysis (incident investigation) facilitation and or participation.

The base salary range for this role is $88,000 to $115,000. Actual salaries will vary based on factors such as a candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and competencies. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan based on company performance and individual performance.
