We are seeking an experienced Family Law Attorney to join a stable, well-respected law firm in Rockville, MD. The ideal candidate will be established, barred in MD, DC, or VA, and ready to hit the ground running.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with facilitating a positive environment with a focus on teamwork, open-mindedness, emotional intelligence, and willingness to learn from others and share ideas
  • Provide representation for clients in court in legal cases as pertains to family law
  • Uphold a steady schedule of hearings, court appearances, and conferences
  • Attend trials and court proceedings
  • Oversee and manage the legal issues that transpire between people who are members of the same family
  • Advise staff on legal matters and interpret laws
  • Interact routinely with caseworkers, supervisors, program directors, and program administrators
  • Supervise and direct mediation sessions, and offer effective legal advice
  • Organize and record all official documents required to file cases
  • Update clients regularly about their cases

Qualifications

  • Admission to the Maryland, DC, or VA Bar
  • Bill 1600 hours per year min
  • Exceptional knowledge of the Maryland family law process, from inception through appeal
  • Minimum of 5 years experience as a Family Law Attorney with heavy litigation, courtroom, and client interaction experience.
  • Technical knowledge of and ability to use MS Office Suite, file-sharing software, legal research software, and case management software
  • Excellent writing and oral advocacy skills
  • Superior time management skills, including the ability to manage to change deadlines, client demands, and multiple cases
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
