Overview:

POSITION SUMMARY: The Safety and Asset Protection Manager is responsible to safeguard all GISD Assets and ensure Ambassador Safety through asset protection, loss prevention, and customer service policies and procedures. The Safety and Asset Protection Manager assists the Vice President of Operations in planning and implementing Goodwills safety programs to ensure a safe and accident-free environment. The Safety and Asset Protection Manager is responsible for coaching, development, and supervision of security staff. The primary challenge is to continually maintain an appropriate level of awareness, knowledge, and preparedness across the GISD organization. To create a culture that prioritizes effective and efficient safety and asset protection practices. To provide overall leadership, professional knowledge, and expertise in the administration of Safety and Asset Protection.

Essential Functions Statement(s):

  1. Provides coaching, development, training and Supervises Security Officers, Security Supervisor, and SAP Coordinator at their assigned locations.
  2. Ensures adequate security coverage at various locations in line with departmental expectations.
  3. Processes time and attendance in accordance with wage and hour regulations.
  4. Plans and implements programs to train managers and employees in work site safety practices, loss prevention, fire prevention, earthquake preparedness, heat and illness prevention, correct handling techniques for chemicals, equipment, and other materials.
  5. Assists with the Safety and Asset Protection Committee in quarterly meetings; informs the committee of trends and analysis of worksite hazards and security trends. Encourages feedback
    and ideas for continuous improvement.
  6. Makes recommendations and updates Work Injury Reduction Program and Safety Data sheets yearly or as needed.
  7. Inspects organization facilities on a pre-determined schedule to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
  8. Provides information, signs, posters, barriers, and other materials to warn of potential and actual safety hazards and to prevent access to hazardous conditions.
  9. Documents and investigates work related injuries, accusations of theft, loss, violation of security and liability or deliberate misconduct. Prepares appropriate written report with findings.
  10. Interviews employees, customers, and others as appropriate to obtain useful factual information regarding alleged policy violations, work related injuries, security, safety and liability
    issues sufficient for GISD to reliably decide a suitable course of action.
  11. Represents Goodwill in community or industry Safety and Asset Protection groups and with local law enforcement agencies.
  12. Acts as the initial contact person for all store robbery, burglary, alarm calls or critical incident investigations.
  13. Identifies store operational procedures which are not consistent with company expectations.
  14. Demonstrates good working knowledge of state and local safety and shoplifting laws, GISD policies, and CARF procedures.
  15. Plans, schedules, and conducts forklift training, First Aid and CPR training, and OSHA certification for managers, supervisors, and staff.
  16. Serves as a primary liaison with local law enforcement agencies.
  17. Provides analysis of Loss Prevention issues affecting the company.
  18. Is Responsible for training and monitoring Loss Prevention Agents in proper Loss Prevention/Security procedures based on GISD values and initiatives.
  19. Performs camera layouts, serves as a primary contact for video footage request, camera troubleshooting, and assessment of equipment.
  20. Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Experience & Education: AA or BA in Occupational Safety & Health and/or a minimum of three years of experience in a related field preferred. Minimum of 3 years of experience in the security field, including 1 year in a Supervisory role.

Language Skills: Proficient in English (written and verbal). Bilingual (English/Spanish) is helpful but not required. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers and Goodwill employees.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to understand and analyze statistical data.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations: OSHA-related courses or certificates are necessary. Valid California Drivers License with a driving record acceptable to Goodwills insurance. Must have a vehicle, valid Drivers License and driving record acceptable to GISDs insurance requirements.
