Job Title: Certified Nursing Assistant
Location: Rapid City, SD
Duration: 12 Months with possibility of extension
Hours: 40 hrs/week

Interview Process:
Selected candidates will participate in a phone screening. Those that pass the phone screening may be invited to an in-person interview.

Note: US citizenship is required.

BACKGROUND:
The Client has an ongoing need for skilled healthcare personnel to assist with long-term care and rehabilitation services. Certified Nursing Assistants are needed to support patient care in a variety of settings.

REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Experience: 1 year. Please note, candidates with less than 1.5 years of experience will require manager approval.

  • Travelers must live 100 miles away from any *** facility.
  • Previous permanent staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler.

Patient Types:
Long term care or Rehab/Skilled Nursing Facility. No memory care unit.

Patient Ratios:

  • Nurse: 1:25-30; 2 nurses per shift
  • Medication Aide: 1:25-30; 2 MAs per shift
  • CNA: 1:10; 5 CNAs per shift

Required Certifications:

  • RN/LPN: BLS
  • CNA: CNA certified
  • Medication Aide: BLS; Med Aide Certified through the SD Board of Nursing

Education Required:

  • RN/LPN: Completion of a nursing education program approved by a board of nursing; Registered Nurse (RN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing
  • CNA/Med Aide: High School diploma or GED equivalent

Skills required:

  • RN/LPN: Tube feeds, Ostomy care, dressing/wound care experience, phlebotomy, IV starts. Ability to act as Charge RN.
  • Medication Aide: Verify rights of medication administration, pass medications unless controlled.
  • CNA: Assist residents with activities of daily living, answer call lights.
  • All position types: Team player, positive attitude, LTC experience is a plus.

Support on the Unit:

  • Charge nurse available.
  • Hospitalist on call.
  • Connected to ED for quick response.

Charting System:
Point click care; Epic for viewing information (EPIC care link).

Orientation:
2 shifts for orientation, offered by the education department.

Scheduling:
12-hour variable shifts. Weekend rotation expected.

Holiday Expectations:
Expected to work holidays, with time off approval up to 7 days without approval.

  • Scrub Color: Nurse - Ceil blue top, Black pants bottom. CNA - Caribbean blue top, Black pants bottom.
  • Free Parking available.
  • No artificial nails allowed.
  • Snow Policy: Staff required to stay at the building during snow conditions and will be compensated.
