The Role You’ll Play

As Engineering & Estimate Manager you'll plan, coordinate, direct and oversee the design teams, material specification, and GW standards on retail displays and fixtures. Ensure efficient and high-quality designs and all design standards are provided. This position works closely with key stakeholders across multiple departments and GW facilities to ensure all have been trained, troubleshoot problem areas, identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives from conception to final manufactured products.

What you'll do

Safety - Leads, promotes, and practices safety awareness.

Training - Oversees and/or conducts on-the-job training on software, tools and or equipment and standard operating procedures to ensure efficient and production outputs of design projects.

Design & Pricing Setup – Conducts design reviews on all projects before they move forward. Provides instruction on projects and what direction the design should go. Trains employees on design direction & methods prior to starting any project. Periodically monitors quality and outputs. Completes all project process once to completion. Ensure pricing and estimates are completed and approved prior to submitting to reps or customers.

Efficiency - Maintains design & pricing efficiency and troubleshoots any pricing or production issues. Leads employee productivity, labor costs and quality to ensure optimal performance and quality of work.

Planning - Plans daily shift activities and coordinate/allocate team and materials resources to ensure labor costs and design targets are consistently met.

Orders - Maintains close engagement with other departments to monitor any design or cost changes relating to customer orders.

People – Works with Director on employment decision; hiring, re-assignment, promotion, discipline, and termination of employees. Approved timecards and controls overtime costs. Creates and sustains a culture of continuous improvement and business excellence. Resolves and prevents disputes that arise among employees.

Communication - Conducts daily meetings to ensure design specifications and production goals are clearly communicated, and the design team is prepared to carry out a safe, efficient, and high-quality product design. Provides constructive feedback and coaching for employee productivity.

Quality - Executes quality inspections, identifies non-conformance issues and works closely with cross functional teams to conduct root cause analyses and implement corrective actions.

Accurate completion of required paperwork and computer data input related to all facets of design documentation and personnel data.

Perform any other tasks required for a safe, organized, and productive business.

What you'll need

Strong working knowledge of supervising a safe office operation with a large employee base, in a fast-paced, high-quality design team or relevant design exhibits or retail display industry.

Lean mentality, a focus on quality, and a proven record of identifying and contributing to the implementation of continuous safety, quality, and process improvements.

Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to build, mentor, coach, and develop cohesive, high-performing safe design team members.

Strong aptitude in diagnosing and taking corrective action to drive efficiency in the design processes and methods.

Strong written/verbal communication skills, strong computer literacy, proficient in project planning/management systems and MS Office platform.

Strong mathematical skills with the ability to calculate figures, measurements, percentages, and totals.

Self-starter with an ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with teams and management across multiple departments.

Ability to drive operational performance through data driven decision making and KPI’s.

Ability and flexibility to think, react, and adapt quickly to changing demands, challenges, and requirements

Industry Experience

5 years of hands-on knowledge and experience within the exhibit or retail display industry. Knowledge in wood, metal and plastic manufacturing and electronic assembly.

Highly refined and efficient 3D CAD modeling & rendering using Solidworks and Cinema4D or equivalent industry software.

Solutions oriented to navigate design implementation with excellent visualization skills in 2D/3D space including hand sketching, 3D modeling & technical/engineering drawings (CAD).

Strong mathematical skills with the ability to calculate figures, measurements, percentages, and totals. Knowledge of production and manufacturing methods which include vac-forming, die casting, sand casting, injection molding, CNC machining and laser cutting.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
